I know this has been answered before, but I wasn't paying attention at the time, because it didn't involve me. :teeth:

I think we are going to drive down in late August!! :Pinkbounc Instead of asking my parents to stay at our house with the dogs for 11 days, I think that if we do go, we will bring our two Bichons.

So, which loop is the pet loop. And are those sites preferred sites, i.e. have cable? And am I nuts for going in late August? ;) I figure those from the south will already be back in school.

TIA

Okay, this is my personal opinion, so take it for what it's worth.

We have camped at FW with our beagle for the past 6 years and we like loop 1600. Lot's of trees, not too swampy, close to the Meadows but far enough away to be quiet. I personally don't see what the fascination is with preferred loops. The sites are small and close together, and I can do without cable TV. We just returned from a trip to WL, and the only channels I can't get with my antenna which are available on resort TV are the non stop ad for DVC, the same girl talking about the top 7 attractions at DW, and the station that shows the Disney bed time stories from 7-10 pm. I don't watch that much TV at WDW anyway. So to summarize - we like the 1600 loop.

Thanks Ftwildernessguy. Actually, we've never even gotten a cable site anywhere! My main concern is to be around a playground, basketball court, etc. for my 8 and 10 year old boys and not too far from the pool. But on the other hand, I don't want to be in an area that is so busy that my dogs sit in the window all day barking at passers-by. LOL.

I just visited Disneycampers' website. What a great job. He even has a rating which indicates the degree of difficulty of backing into some of the sites. Sounds like we may want to look into #1706!

If your boys are into basketball, there is a hoop/ball right between the 1700 and 1800 loops at the end of the street. It isn't a court or anything, but they can shoot hoops all day if they want to ...... I rarely see anyone using it. Also, we take our dogs (Bichon and Cocker) and like the 1800 loop. You really can't go wrong anywhere in the pet loops, though.

We had ressies for a preferred campsite and we were put in the 500 loop. They asked when we checked in if we had any pets with us. And we didn't. But the 500 loop is a pet loop (not that we cared).
There is cable hookup in the 500 loop and you're not too far from the Settlement.

I would like to check out Disneycamper's website. Anybody have a link? We are going the first week of December. I am sure it would be helpful.
Thank You

So, to answer the original question.

So, which loop is the pet loop. And are those sites preferred sites, i.e. have cable?

There are 7 pet loops

1600, 1700, 1800 & 1900 These are standard full hook up sites. Electric, water & sewer

300, 700 & 800 These are preferred hook up sites. Electric, water, sewer & cable.

FW reserves the right to designate any loop a pet loop on a temporary basis if they feel it is necessary.

ya know when i was young you would always see kids playing ball on the courts. we would go around the campground looking for games. i even got grounded cause i missed dinner playing ball, but now you never see too many kids playing. hmmmmm

anyway I think for location and a pet loop i would say 700 cinnamon fern way close to the settlment, close to trading post, and second choice would be 1600 near the back

Aren't all preferred loops now pet loops-which would include the 100 and 200 loops?

That's what I've heard but when we were there in October I noticed that not all the preferred loops had the NO PETS BEYOND THIS POINT sign or the 'doggypots'--so I'm just not sure that all preferred loops are pet loops.

Don't care, though, cause I love 1700!

I was originally told all preferred loops, but that has been corrected to the following:

1600, 1700, 1800 & 1900 These are standard full hook up pet sites. Electric, water & sewer

300, 700 & 800 These are preferred hook up pet sites. Electric, water, sewer & cable.

When I was there 300, 700 & 800 had the signs at the front of the loops and they have added a pet walk that extends behind both of these loops.
