Ok here is the short version of our dilemma! We are avid Disney resort goers but as we all know they don't allow pets (except RV at Fort) we do not have an RV!!

We WILL not and CAN not board him at the pet hotel for dogs on property! We can not leave him with anyone either! He will not be left alone long (that is one of the reasons for staying so long)... :confused3

We also do not want to rent a house (will not feel much like a vacation) so I have researched a bit and so far our one option is Westgate Town Center. But, with the MANY mixed reviews I am scared to spend a month their! They did give a great quote since we will be there so long, but WIFI is not free and my dog would be 170$ for the month! I am torn of what to do... We need a kitchen of course and a washer/dryer would be great of course. Westgate offers both! My mom will be joining us for 10 of the 30 days, but she doesn't mind sleeping on a pull out.

I REALLY wish Disney would just make one of the older DVC buildings pet friendly! He wears a diaper lol and is 9 years old and wouldn't harm a fly. It's just frustrating...

I really want to book this so I can put my mind at ease but I don't know what to do :confused3

Sorry but I almost laughed - I didn't know dogs could wear diapers! I grew up with Golden Retrievers but they're big dogs. And I have no pets (hard enough with kids LOL).

Anyway, I searched Marriott's website under "pet friendly" and came across the Residence Inn Lake Buena Vista. They require a $100 cleaning fee, and you have to contact them ahead of time. They're roughly $125/night for a studio. More for larger rooms. They also have a shuttle to Epcot included I think. Pets up to 40 pounds allowed.

There is also a Residence Inn near Seaworld that accepts pets up to 30 pounds and seems to be a little less expensive.

I'm sure you can find more, but hope that helps!!

I have a few questions.

What are you planning on doing with your dog during the day? You can't take him into the parks with you. I don't see being able to leave him in a regular hotel room, what would happen when the maid comes to clean? You are opposed to boarding him, ( apparently even in a doggy daycare type arrangement) so what exactly do you plan on doing with him while you are in the parks?

We stayed at Residence inn by Sea world and they do accept pets. Not sure when you are going but it was $90 a night for a 1 bedroom and full kitchen when we went. Clean rooms and full breakfast

As a DVC member, I am glad that pets are not allowed in the villas. The amount of clean up that would require is a lot. I wouldn't want the condition of them to deteriorate either even in the older resort, Old Key West. It recently had all of the rooms renovated. Allowing dogs in there would not be okay with me. :confused3

I vote Residence Inn at Lake Buena Vista. We have stayed here 4 times over the last 4 years. We go in early December every year.

First, you can get a discount with a month's stay, here. You will have to call to get the price negotiated. We haven't stayed passed two weeks, but we are considering longer stays in the future; so, I asked about it. I found out at the time we were there that there were 6 families staying longer periods and this was in December 2013. I talked with the manager and there was one family who was there for 3 years.

There are studios, 1 bedroom suites that can be done with 2 queens, and 2 bedroom suites that can have up to 4 beds. There is a sofa bed, too. Each bedroom has it's own TV and the living room has a TV, too. The kitchen has full size appliances. The rooms are a little outdated, but not too bad. Wireless internet was spotty, but we got by.

We kept our dog in a kennel at the resort in the bedroom when we visited the parks. We would not be gone for more than 6 hours at a time. We usually went early to the park and then took a break in the afternoon and returned to the parks for the evening. We kept a do not disturb sign at our hallway door and we were fine with the dog in the room. Obviously, housekeeping doesn't come in with the do not disturb, but I just got new towels and even bed linen when I wanted to without a problem. Also, shampoo, soap, and toilet paper wasn't a problem to get, either. I would get supplies while housekeeping was around.

You get a breakfast buffet that is wonderful. This meal was enough that we only needed a second meal each day. We ate hearty for breakfast. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday there is an evening reception which included enough for us to have dinner. Usually, it was hot dogs or hamburgers. We had a soup and a salad night, too which I really liked. They serve beer and wine at the evening reception. The resort has a small grocery store that includes microwave meals, but it's a little expensive there.

The car ride to the Disney parks was easy and not too far away. There are plenty of restaurants near by if you want to eat out. Groceries can be had at Wal Mart or Publix if you have a car and that is a little bit of a ride; so, I would make that trip count.

The resort provides shuttle service to Disney, but we used our car. You will save $15 on parking fees if you use the shuttle which is free to resort guests. The shuttle is restrictive and the schedule wasn't good for us, but maybe, it would be okay for you.

The resort pool is very satisfactory and it's an outside pool. This is a big resort. We asked for a first floor room near an exit. If your mother needs a scooter, the outside vendors for it can deliver to the resort. They accept rentals there.

For the price I think you get great value, here. I did many looks for price on Internet and locked in at a very good deal. The prices varied as much as $30/night; so, it paid off looking every couple of days to look for a deal. They accept AAA for a discount, too. You can't combine discount deals; so, take the best deal available. I actually booked a room under AAA and then Marriott offered an exceptional deal and I grabbed that deal. I cancelled the AAA deal once I secured the other one. I will say your best pricing will occur between 60 and 45 days out. It seems to us as you get within 30 days the prices are going up and up.

My friend who travels a lot all over the world uses AirBnB and highly recommends it. https://www.airbnb.com I just did a key word search and it came up with Floridays and several other places. Maybe this link will take you straight there https://www.airbnb.com/s/Orlando--FL?keywords=pet+friendly

I am not sure why you do not want to board. In Tampa (where I live) there are excellent doggie daycares like Fuzzie Buddies: http://www.fuzziebuddies.com/

You an also find Fuzzie Buddies on youtube. Many videos but here is one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H19JpXea1U

The RI by Sea World sounds pretty similar. From reading online reviews, the pool seems nicer at SW if that makes a difference to you. Thanks for your review. We booked the RI LBV for a week this summer before moving to onsite.

Westgate is probably the closest.

Know how you feel - mind was a cat - he did stay at Disney kennels and we both loved them - but when he got older - found Celebration world resort now call Festiva

It has tile on most of the floors - and it was pet friendly. You have to call them and say you are bringing a pet - there are only some building that will allow them.

Westgate can be strange. My first visit with a pet we stayed in the older section - which many people hate. My cats loved it was bigger - so they ran around and had a good time.

next time Westgate put us in the newer units. they are lovely - but are in the high rise. So the cats view was not as great. wall to wall carpeting - so they did not enjoy it was much.

we got a fireworks view of the Mk. so it did have it good points.

you can rent Festiva like the other timeshares. Now the bad points. Westgate is bigger and has alot of things right there. Festiva never developed. So no general store or restuarant on property. You definitely have to have a car to deal with either one. Although Westgate does have a bus system.

there is another one - more in the central part of Kissimmee.

since I am cheap -only stayed at either one when they were less than the Motel 6. then the motel 6 did not charge extra for pets.

really surprised at the expensive of your pet. think when I stayed there it was $75 for the entire stay.

one of the bad things - because Spicey was so old - had to cancel some of the things that I had scheduled and really wanted to do. but heck he was worth it.

Westgate can also be louder - more excitment than your dog might like. of course some dogs love that

you can find both here

http://tug2.com/timesharemarketplac...roomsMin=&BathroomsMax=&SleepsMin=&SleepsMax=

http://www.myresortnetwork.com/Florida-timeshares.asp

these you would have to rent a week at a time.
