Last week, out of nowhere, our dog got a really ugly spot on her face. Took her to the vet (who is a jerk) and he said "it's just an irritation, put hydrocortisone on it". I knew he was wrong from the start, it was no little "irritation". 
Yesterday we take her back to the vet (the jerk's partner who is a great vet) and he tells us she was bitten by a deer fly and it has turned into impetigo! Yuck! It looks awful.
Anyone experience this with their pet? How long does it take to go away?
