We are going to FW in august and my DM wants to bring her dog. The thing is, I read some where that dogs aren't allowed in pop-up tent/ trailer? she doesn't mind leaving her dog at the kennel during the day when we're on the parks but she would like to have her dog sleeps with her... Do you know anything about this?:confused3

Disney does say that pets are not allowed in pop-ups ,,,don't know the reasons why . But I can say that one time when we were at the Fort there was a pop-up close to us , they had what sounded like a small dog , once the folks left the site the dog barked non-stop the whole day . Not to pleasant for the neighbors.......Mr.:goofy: ....Kennel is good idea.

I'm pretty sure the rule is the dog can't be unattended in a trailer with soft sides. FtWildernessGuy can confirm this. So you should be able to have the dog there in your popup when you are at camp, but take the dog to the kennel when you are at the parks.

You must book a pet loop to keep the dog with you.

So you can keep a dog in a regular RV while you are in the parks? I was afraid you had to kennel them whenever you were away from the site. We're not bringing our collie, but wife is a parkhog and we would stay gone from the rv far too long anyway.

Right you are, Carol. My hybrid also falls into the pop up category for this rule.

So genhand, your mom can bring her pooch and keep it with her at night, which is what the Wonder Beagle does, but poochie can't be left unattended in the pop up - so we kennel the Wonder Beagle during the day, and bring him back to the Kiwi when we are done wandering and in for the night. Their reasoning is sound - not just for noise control, as 2goofycampers mentioned, but also to prevent escape for a lonely pooch looking for his family. Be sure to mention there will be a dog when reservations are made and that you must be in a pet loop so you are assigned appropriately, and be ready to pay the extra 5 bucks a day for your pet.

Also be sure to bring proof of vaccination for your pet, which you will not only need for the kennel and FW requirements, but also crossing the border since you are from our cold neighbor to the north.

eh

Ft. Wilderness normally does not ask for your vaccination records for your pets, but the Kennel most certainly will.

Even if your pets are not going to be in a kennel it is always good to have them in case the Ft. does ask to see them. Better to be safe than sorry..:goodvibes :goodvibes

And on the outside chance your dog is involved in a biting incident, it sure does help to be able to prove the vaccinations are up to date right away.

Thank you all for your answers. My parents are use to cross the border with their dog (which is a copy of Lady from Lady and the tramp) because you allowed pet in camping and we don't Well, we do but not at a lot of campground.

So if any of you are camping at FW the first week of august be shure to look for a french speacking family with a very cute american cocker...
