Doesn't anyone PARK in their garages?

I can see the huge liability issues of parking cars in rental home garages. The what if - leaving the car running in a closed garage and the carbon monoxide fumes going through the house? Or heaven forbid, a person inside the garage. Or losing the garage door openers. I can see why most rentals don't let you park in the garage for those reasons alone.

Good luck finding an empty garage!

I own a 5-bed home in Emerald Island Resort with no game room. It's refreshing to see your post because I've been told by so many renting agents that I need to have a game room to attract guests. My house is 4-years old and has been renting very well without a game room. I figured it was just because of the other amenities but perhaps the lack of a game room is an amenity I didn't realize I had? :confused3

I just had to say that we LOVE Emerald Island and are renting in the resort again next summer. I'm jealous that you have a house in the complex; it's gorgeous!

I had to laugh about the garage issue. Most of the homes we've rented have had garages but we never used them when we were down there. We're used to parking the car outside and don't mind doing it, especially in the communities that we've stayed in. They've all been safe and quiet. I HATE when the game room is in the garage, though! The home we rented last summer had a pool table and air hockey in the garage but it was too damn hot in there to use them. Granted we were there in August but it's so much better when the game room is in the house than out in the garage. UGH!

That's ridiculous. We've rented homes numerous times. None had game rooms and we wouldn't care if they did, and we certainly wouldn't pay anymore for one that did.

All have had garages which we've never used. We park outside at home. We park outside on vacation. If you stay at a hotel you park outside, too. I don't see the problem.

Which way does your garage face? as this will have a great deal to do with it.

Our florida friends garage, faces west so its gets the sun at the hotest part of the day, so it gets really hot, its usually only 2F below the outside temp in the afternoon.

Our garage faces north. It's not a cool 70 - 72 degrees like the house is, but it's definitely not suffocatingly hot either. That said, those who rent out houses & advertise a game room, should install AC. Not everyone is used to the Florida lifestyle. ;)
