We got a calendar at work and it says Good Friday, but where I live, instead of Good Friday, it says Spring Holiday...

Our office calls it Friday, April 18th.

Oh, you mean people actually get the day off?

i think my city/town still calls it Good Friday...as do all (well, i'm not sure about all)but the schools that i know.

We don't get it off so there's no designation on our work calendars.

However, it's DD's first year of public school. The day is marked (and this is a direct quote): "Historic Day of Low Attendance -- NO SCHOOL"

Well DUH!!!! If there's no school it stands to reason that it's a day of low attendance. That oxymoron just cracks me up every time I look at it.

Good Friday is a religious holiday name. Whatever the workplace/school calls it, that's the name.

Public schools in FL have school. Their Spring Break was March 26-30.

But why do they have to call it things other than that??
It's been Good Friday this long..

I live on Long Island in a very Jewish town. We have off because our Spring Break revolves around Easter, and we didn't have too many snow days, but there is no mention of Good Friday on the calendar.

You got me on this one. Our school district calendar had the final Friday in March marked "Good Friday". Nothing at all for the Friday before Easter.

I work in city government and the day listed on our closed calendar is called: Good Friday...which is what I call it also.

All I can say is, unbelievable! That's about the most PC thing I've ever seen.

Dhs work calls it Good Friday and has that and Easter Monday ( thast what they call it) off too. Its a 4 day weekend for us WOOOHOOOOO lol

Good Friday is the title on the holiday calendar where I used to work.

My husband still has the day "Good Friday" marked as a holiday for his employees. And we celebrate Passover, lol.

We are off, and kitties get to go to the vet for their yearly shots that day. I don't think Simba would call it a good Friday. :p

I don't know of anything that closes here. Very few people seem to even know what it is unless they go to a church that follows a traditional church year.

Many companies no longer give the day off but it is still Good Friday. Some schools and companies either close or give employees time off for Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanna....should they start calling those "Tuesday in September this year" off? Sometimes PC can just become ridiculous.
