On our other Disney trips we have always had the dining plan. We dabbled with the idea this time, but we are only staying onsite two nights before moving offsite for a conference for my husband's work.

We arrive at 5:35pm at MCO, and will use ME to AKL. The plan for Friday, since it's obviously very short, was to explore the resort, the pool, view the animals, etc. Relaxing but enjoying first evening. That said, we are going to need to eat :) I don't want to be traveling all over WDW for meals, so I would prefer to stay at AKL, but we are not overly adventurous eaters. Earlier today there was a 7:30 Boma ADR for our party size and I almost booked it, but was hesitant. Personally it's a lot for a meal in my opinion so I wanted to get other opinions.

Or maybe we should stick to Mara?

I really didn't like Boma when I went for breakfast, but dinner may be entirely different. I know a lot of people enjoy the dinner!

Absolutely love both meals there. I prefer dinner, I think, because there is more savory and the salad bar. I am all about that. All of our party loves it...kids included.

We did it on our arrival night too. I thought it was good but not really worth the money. We were tired and my kids were cranky from our travel day so that might have tarnished our experience. It would have been a lot cheaper and more enjoyable for us to just eat at the Mara.

My family (me, dh, and teen daughter) loves Boma. We've eaten breakfast and dinner there several times. It's always worth the money to us.

If you feel it's too pricey (and most WDW buffets are, IMHO), I would stick with the Mara. The food is very good there and you can sit either inside or outside. It's quite nice! Or, try to get a reservation at Sanaa. The food is excellent, you can take a quick, free shuttle over to Kidani (if you are in Jambo) and just order items a la carte which would probably be cheaper than doing the Boma buffet. We, also, don't do a lot of buffets. We simply don't eat enough to justify the cost.

For dinner, we had a huge group (8 adults, 9 kids and some with dietary concerns) and everyone really enjoyed Boma. There's carved meats and mashed potatoes and regular salad for people who are not so adventurous eaters. The soups are also interesting and fairly tame. The kids mostly ate meats or from the kid table.

We've always really liked Boma (twice for dinner & once for breakfast). The 2 times we had dinner I was a bit worried because we have some plain eaters & some picky kids in our party of 11. Everyone really liked it. They had something for everyone.

It's number 3 on our all time eating list behind Jiko and Ohana. And as I posted in another thread earlier today about Boma. Any place with zebra domes for desert as a must do.

We like it for breakfast and dinner. It's pricey, but most buffets are because you're paying for all the overhead and waste that is inherent in buffets.

I wouldn't really say that Boma is particularly "adventurous" unless the only thing you eat at home are bologna sandwiches on wonder bread. There are some items that you won't find at other WDW buffets, but you'd have to be incredibly picky to not find something to eat there.

Have done breakfast and dinner and loved both. There is plenty for the adventurous and the non adventurous eater.
Personally, we like Jiko better, but an enirely different type of restaurant and price range.
If you like Indian food, Sanaa at Kidani is very good.

All 4 of us love Boma. However, I wouldn't make an ADR for 2 hours after a plane lands if I was relying on DME. Yes, if all goes well, you should be there in time. If anything causes a delay, you will miss your ADR.

I would say that Boma is more 'blah' than adventuresome IMO. DH does enjoy it though. I will go for him as there is enough I can eat, just rather the main ingredients listed in foods be prepared in a more appetizing and presentable form. A lot of the dishes seem to have a nutmeg/allspice flavor which get old to me -

Unlike most, we neither one care for the zebra domes. DH like the salads and soups mostly.
Like most buffets, there are usually enough dishes that everyone can find something to eat.

The Buffett at Boma might be just the thing. There is a large variety of foods so you are bound to find something you like. If you order a specific dish at a table service and don't like it we you are kindof up a creek without a paddle.

Agree that it is a lot for a meal. I've been to Boma a few times but will admit its not my favorite. I've always found the place very crowded with the tables very close together. I'm also not a fan of most of the Africa seasonings.

However, in its defense, there are lots of "safe" foods for those that aren't adventurous. In addition to the African inspired dishes you'll also find "regular food". You won't go hungry.
