I don't have a fireplace now that I live in Florida, but my fireplace in Missouri did have a blower. I had a switch that I could turn on. It would cause a blower to come on that would force the warm air from the fireplace through little vents (there was a glass cover across the front of the fireplace) to warm the room.

No it's just as Feralpeg described it. It is not an insert or stove. It works great but I don't like the sound of the blower.

Our wood burning fireplace does not have a blower.

Mine was loud. I only used it when it was really cold out and the house seemed chilled.

My last house had one of these. We only used it once in the year that we lived there. That glass got hot and with a toddler, it wasn't the best idea.

Do they have blowers with wood burning fireplaces? I would think that would be unsafe.
My gas fireplace has a blower.

No, mine doesn't, but 99.9% of the time, it's just for looks anyway.

Yeah, my house in Michigan had one. Ours WAS quiet and worked well...only thing was it heated up the great room, but the rest of the house was cold. :rotfl: So, it was only used in winter if the power went out for more than 24 hours.

Our gas fireplace is pre-wired for one, but we haven't had one installed.

I have a wood fireplace and no blower.

We have a blower on our fireplace, but we haven't used either yet. We've been in the house for 18 months and keep saying we are going to have the chimney cleaned so we can use it for the first time, but it really hasn't been that cold and it isn't a top priority.

I voted yes, but maybe I shouldn't have voted at all.

Its a pellet stove insert into a fireplace. It HAS to have a blower.

We have a "zero clearance" fireplace as DH says :confused3 . It looks like a fireplace, but can't be kept open when burning (our is wood). The noise from the blower is very quiet. We have cut our oil bill in half since we installed it! :goodvibes

My fireplace with the blower was wood burning. As long as there are properly vented, they are safe.
