Does your child have to eat when you eat?

We are on the dxddp, two adults one three year old. We will do late character breakfasts and signature dinners. If my three year old will not want to eat in the evening, can he eat a bit with us or oop and can I save his credits for lunch the next day? We could get him a cs lunch instead, right?

Yes. But with the deluxe plan, you'll find yourself with a lot of extra credits in the end. If he'll just share with you at dinner, you could definitely use a CS meal for him at lunch.

I am aware of this, just sometimes he might not want to eat that much any more in the evenings. Also if he would not have to be on the ddp, he wouldn't, he just turned three and when we go out at home we allways share. I also would rather buy him an appetizer from the adult menu in the signature restaurant than using two of his credits for three courses he will never finish. If we have two credits from him we could use those for lunch from cs, as I understand there is no difference between child credits and adult credits.

36 views and no input? Please help, just want to know if it is ok not to order something for him or pay oop for a certain meal when we are paying with credits and if it is possible to use his ts credit for a cs lunch in the parks?

Of course it's OK to pay OOP whenever you want to.

With the Deluxe plan, there's no table vs counter service credits, it's all just meals. So you can use them however you wish.

At a signature restaraunt you can certainly pay OOP for whatever you order for your little one, even if you are paying with DxDP credits for your meal. You should take a look at the kids meal menus for the restaraunts where you will be having dinner, the kids meals tend to be much smaller than the adult meals & do not include an adult style appetizer, the kids meal appetizers are more along the lines of, celery, carrots & dip or chicken soup or a sml fruit salad.

The official line is that kids meal credits (less expensive credits) should be used to purchase meals from the kids menus, even if Disney cannot be bothered to keep track of them for you. Posting ways to get around the official policy can & will get you in trouble around here. That is probably why some people read the thread & declined to comment -- or they were looking for answers themselves.

When I did DxDP (2 Adults & 1 child) we left w/ credits still "on the table" so to speak, we just coudn't eat that much. I guess if you have a signature meal planned every night (which truly might get a bit tiresome with a three year old) you may well come close to using every last credit.

Thank you for your answer. It wasn't at all our intention to 'cheat' Disney:goodvibes
It is more a question of if it will be worth to order a 'big' meal for ds at night when he can eat with us and rather feed him in the park during the day. We do not plan on having lunch since two meals a day are enough for us adults.
I just honestly think that two credits will be wasted for him in the evening, we never do kids meals at home and the signature menus for kids are by far not as exciting then the adult menu is.

I'm sorry my original post wasn't clear. My "yes" was that you could NOT order him something and use the credits for him during the day instead.

You are right, your first post wasn't clear at all then. Why would I have some credits left then? To make it clear now, if I use a credit he has to use a credit as well, even if he doesn't eat or eats from our plates?

If he gets 3 credits and uses 1 for breakfast and 1 for lunch, he'll still have 1 left over at the end of the day. If you did it every day and never ordered him that signature meal, you'd end up with extra credits at the end of the trip. I answered your PM, too. :thumbsup2

You can use his credits for children's meals anytime. You can use his credits for CS meals for him. You can order him something and pay cash for it while you use credits and use his credits elsewhere. The only restriction is that if the restaurant you are using his credits at has a children's menu, you must use them for a child's meal. You can also order nothing for him at a la carte restaurants if you'd rather feed him elsewhere.

The only exception you may want to note is buffets, all you can eat family style or fixed price restaurants. There, according to usual Disney policy, he will be charged for a meal if he is at the table, whether he actually eats anything or not.

On the DxDP, child and adult credits are separate. But there is no difference in table service and counter service credits.

I heard differently because not all CS places have kids meals so they can't distinguish between adult and children for Deluxe credits in the system. Anyone have a Deluxe receipt they can look at and see how it's calculated in their system?

They were separate on the two print outs that we got at CSR but I don't remember about the receipts. But I am pretty sure that they are separate because otherwise, parents could ditch the kids and use child credits for adult meals.

I just found the thread from a month ago that discussed it. Right now Deluxe credits are pooled like CS credits.

I guess I stand corrected but I still have our print out from CSR and it lists adult, child and snack credits. :confused3

It honestly surprises me that they have the credits pooled on any of the plans because there are so many ways to pull off using child credits for adult meals thus costing Disney money since child credits cost much less than adult credits.

This thread will need to be closed if it becomes a discussion of using children's credits for adult meals.

The answer is yes. Everyone at the table does not have to use dining plan credits with the exceptions already said by other posters (doesn't work with buffet or family style meals). But..... If you paid out of pocket for your 3 yr old at dinner, and used the credit for a quick service meal at breakfast or lunch, I don't think it would save money.

Most restaurants have a kids meal package that includes a choice of child-size appetizer, main meal, dessert an drink for $8-9 or $15-22 at a signature restaurant. If instead, you paid a la carte for some pasta or hot dog and a drink, it would probably be about or close to the same amount. Another plus is using the DDP credit, is suspect there is some flexibility... at restaurants, we have asked for different items or more of some foods and never been charged extra. If paying out of pocket, I don't know.

On the deluxe dining plan, I can't imagine there would be any need for to save credits. We had a table service lunch and dinner every day, with appetizers... several were signature restaurants. Some of our lunches were at 11am-11:30 so no need for breakfast. We had 3 character breakfasts on top of that. Other mornings, DS had some cereal we brought from home and we had our usual coffee. We were plenty full the whole trip!
