a welcoming basket in the unit with a supply of dish detergent and so forth any more? My sister was there last year & she said that in the unit was a welcome gift basket with things needed for during your stay. What I am trying to find out is do they have : dish detergant & dishwashing detergent, soap pads, spunge etc... for the kitchen as well as soap for the bath rooms, or do I need to bring my own? I will be leaving on June 2nd for the week. I have never stayed in a timeshare unit before & not sure what to expect as far as supplies. Any help would be great!!! Thanks in advance....

They give you a few packets of dishwasher soap, a small bottle of liquid detergent, small bars of soap, few rolls of toilet paper, tissues and last year they gave us coupons for soap for the washing machine and coffee packets to pick up at the general store. Hope this helps.

Just got back yesterday from a week at Westgate Vacation Villas. We do not own there, but got the week through RCI's vacation getaway program.

They did provide bar soap, a few packets of dish wash detergent, a small bottle of dish soap, a roll of paper towels, a couple trash bags, and several coupons for the convenience store for laundry detergent and coffee packets.

We have mixed reviews for our stay. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask away...

What or should I say why do you have mixed reviews? I don't own there either. I won the week thru bidding on SkyAuction (2 bedroom). My sister has stayed there thru the exchange program. She didn't have any problems. I know from serveral posts on this board that it can have it's problems... I know to stay away from the maintenence meeting.....I would love to hear anything you have to say.... or any warnings that you have for me.....thanks......

Goods: Size and ammenities of the villas, proximity to "The World", recreational offerings on site, general upkeep of the grounds area.

Bads: Upkeep of the villas (iron burns in carpet, leaky air conditioner, chipped and marked-up coffee and end tables, leaky washing machine, missing inventory including 2 ash trays, mop, pot holders, bath mats, and several knives), friendliness of phone operators, friendliness of activity center staff (told one gentlemen he should just buy his son a bike because the boy returned it late), significant mold build-up around the pool nearest our villa...pool 4 I believe, friendliness of staff at Joes pool bar and Cabana...pool 13 I believe (closed up around 1:15 when operational hours stated otherwise and when inquired to food options as stated on sign board was told that we could "call pizza hut, they have food...we've no food today").

Considering we basically used it between park visits, it wasn't really that bad. If we had focused our trip on staying at the resort, I might have been quite disappointed. We got it through RCI with their getaway program (rentals and excess inventory). No tour requirement existed. I did do themaintenance meeting out of curiosity as I had heard so much about it. The honesty of their salespeople was quite disheartening. It was well beyond typical sales pitch and more to the point of flat out lying. I was told that I was coded as a special "invite" by RCI. I booked off the website doing a general search. My sales person (oops guest service agent) never heard of my timeshare company (Fairfield) but did know that they have gone from a deeded system to a right to use system. I was told that I was not at a sales presentation, but I was later asked to sign that I declined their offer of a foreclosure unit for $7900. Fortunately, I was ready and prepared. Hopefully I frustrated the guest service agent because I was prepared for most of his pitch. It ended up taking almost 45 minutes(not the 10-15 promised). I can imagine it being much longer if I had let him spiel.

Oh, I forgot to mention the "check-in" procedure". If possible, get there early. They have a card set up for you at the pre-registration stand, but then you have to go to the regular front desk and it seems like forever considering they already have all of your info. It was quite disorganized and lengthy, and there were only a handfull of people at the time. I hear it is an impossible process if you show up during busy check-in times.

Thanks for the tips....I don't plan on using the resort much. I just wanted a big place since there will be 6 of us going this time. I didn't want to spend a fortune so for 7 nights at $379 which is what I am paying I guess I won't complain. I am not worried about them trying to talk me into buying there...I am dead set against it. You sound like me as far as a timeshare presentation. I think I would have told them about the mold and chipped furniture as they were out-right lying to me LOL! I do plan on gettting there early to check in. I live only 3 hours away...and hope to be there by 10ish. I will let everyone know how my stay went when I return. My stay is June 2-9th.......
