Does WDW need more table Restaurants??

Getting harder and harder to get advanced reservations at Disney dining under the DDP. This past week they were packed. I thought they cant be packed at 5p for dinner but they were. So, either most are on DDP and that is why it is so hard to walk up or there are not enough restaurants. We even figured one night we'd 'splurge' and use a signature dining at Jiko's and that was packed as well.

I guess Epcot is filled with table dining, MK has a bunch, MGM has a few, what about AK? they have a breakfast and see they are making something over near Asia--so they are in need. Of course it would be nice if Rainforest Cafe was on the DDP.

Keep in mind, though, that for any commercial enterprise, it is considered wasteful to have unutilized assets, so empty restaurants would be considered a BAD THING. There is a balance of course, but our tinted view of things as consumers wouldn't recognize the actual optimal balance as optimal. Consequently, figure that Disney needs to add table service capacity to a much lesser extent than a casual look as a guest would indicate.

Also keep in mind that, as far as I've read, there has not yet been a single meal -- not even Christmas Day or Easter Sunday -- when you couldn't get reservations at some table-service restaurants somewhere on-property a few hours beforehand. As far as I have heard, Disney's restaurants have never been at full capacity for any meal. So one of the things Disney may need to do is to get folks to aim for their table service meals at some of the more remote and/or less popular restaurants, to even-out the stress on the system a bit better.

Having said that, there is no question that AK need another table-service restaurant -- that's clear because Disney has publicly acknowledged it and is building one in Asia (to be operated, just like the Rainforest Cafe, by Landry's, so it, too, will probably not be on the Dining Plan). I think there was also a rumor about Tusker House being converted into a TS restaurant, which would be a good thing IMHO.

Not sure how far in advance you were making (or trying to make) ADR's but plenty of folks out there who are making them 6 months ahead of time.
