Does US have/Does Canada have...?

We do have lacrosse here. I played on the school team from 7th grade till 12th. I have a friend in Chicago, his 2 sons played for their school teams too, but now they both play in college. I'm not sure if we have any professional teams once out of college though.
There are some pro teams, though it's very limited... posting from the h.s. lax capital of the US... Camillus, NY! (Just picked up both kids from summer lax camp)...

No fireworks on News Years Eve - do darn cold!! They are legal in Canada - at least in Ontario but you have to be 18 to buy them.

We usually only have major fireworks for Canada Day - July1.

Hey, Paul Tracey did win in Cleveland :rotfl2: I just couldn't remember what series he was in...I spent the weekend watching Formula 1 and I keep up with the IRL...okay so he's in the Champ Car World Series. Anyway, I really like his racing style and his attitude.

I have to admit I am hooked on LaBatt's

What is the most popular beer in Canada?

I think our more popular brands of beer are Blue, Bud, Molson Canadian, Coors. I don't know what the top one is?

As for fireworks, we have them the May 24th weekend to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday, July 1st for Canada Day and also New Years Eve. Not in all places but most of the major cities.

Molson Ex , Labatt are the two main: they produce some american beer underlicence ( bud coors , but with our own alcool content) In Quebec at leat the market for mico-brew is growing rapidly and our state run liquor store has hundreds of beers from all over the world.

In montreal ( and quebec city) we have a firework competition 12 contry compete from the beginning of june to the end of july.

Each country has a 30 minutes show to put to music. About 25 000 people attend anda radio station pipes the music ( you can buy seats at the amusement park where the cometition is held) The shows are so spectacular , that not one event now has firework ( exept Canada day). The montreal crowd now is very knoledable about firework and are difficult to impress ( I was underwlmed by the firework at Disney world!)

I think that Toronto now has such a competition as well. The ones in Quebec city are at the Monmorency falls , and are suppossed to be quite spectacular because of there locations !

Follow that link for pictures of the winning countries !

Disneyfan63 - yes, Canada has Olive Garden Restaurants - not as many as we used to. I love there food!

We had very good fireworks here on July 1st.

Another big difference is the cigarettes. I haven't smelt one in a very long time, since my dad used to buy them when we were there holidaying, but I remember American cigs smelling like cigars. Still true?

I'm just curious why is your city called flag city? I drive through it on highway and I've wondered for awhile.
This is some info I found on the net!

During the 1960s, the Findlay community began celebrating June 14, Flag Day, by decorating virtually every home and business in the city with more than 14,000 U.S. flags. This inspiring display led to a congressional declaration in 1974, when Findlay was officially christened "Flag City U.S.A." The city of Findlay was named "Flag City USA" long before flag-flying became fashionable. It's been known forever for being a patriotic place that is big on displaying the red, white and blue, the reason why six
presidents have visited the city of 39,000.

Belatedly...

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!

I was reminiscing over the weekend about how much I used to enjoy going up to the hill for Canada Day and Natal Day fireworks. They DID get postponed alot! I can still go up to the hill, but now it is Parliament Hill instead of Citadel Hill,(and "August long weekend" instead of Natal Day) and it isn't nearly as much fun. Halifax was a great place to be a young adult!

Thanks!

Does USA have Kraft Peanut Butter?
When we were in Anaheim at IHOP we asked for peanut butter for our toast. The server said, "Oh, you must be from Canada" We asked why, and she said "Only canadians ask for Peanut butter!" Then she brought us out a glob of it in a bowl! In Canada, there is little packages-always with the jam and honey!
Is PButter not so popular in the US?

I love it on toast!!

In my town you see a lot with the 4th coming up, but there aren't that many flying around here normally either. Maybe a little more lately with the war, but nothing extravagant really.

Interesting...in my area, a lot of people have flag poles in front of their houses with the U.S. flag flying or on flag poles attached to their houses. It has dropped off some since the days after 9-11 when you couldn't even find a flag in a store to buy. I had to buy a new one on the internet.

Anyone?

In most places around here, you would get peanut butter packs with the jellies at breakfast. Even if you didn't, and asked for it, I don't think you would be identified as Canadian. I'm not sure about the Kraft brand though. Jif, Skippy, and Peter Pan are the big brands around here.

Maybe you asked if they could put oot some peanut butter? : :flower:
Just kidding, I love Canada (and Canadians).

That is the easterner accent. Out here in the west we would say "hey, can I get some peanut butter, eh?"

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Thanks for the info.
You are right though, I have only been to the eastern and maritme provinces. Central and western Canada are places I really hope to get to soon.

I have actually never been east of Manitoba.....
but there are lots of Easterners here, and you can tell them right away by their accent.

Does the US have Crayola crayons?

Does the US have Jelly Belly jellybeans. I am addicted to them.

Yeah, and the pear ones are the best!
