Does Universal/Islands of Adventure offer anything similar to DAS?

In the past we have used Disney's Disability Access Service (DAS). We will be heading to Universal for a few days on our next vacation and I was wondering if Universal has anything similar. If so could someone explain the similarities/differences to Disney's or your personal experience? Thank you!

They do, but people have reported a lot of difficulty getting it. We did not even attempt it when we went - just went with a good touring plan and kept it reasonable. Unlike Disney, Universal charges for their Express Pass so they are far less generous in giving out their pass based on disability.

Go to guest services for the pass
A TM will be the person to discuss your situation

For peeps that get the pass, it allows you to use the ep line right away if the regular line is less than a 30 minute wait
If the present wait is 30 and over, you are given a return time

They use a formula of cutting the wait time back for you

The pass is valid for the person and their party

If mobility is the issue due to use of a wheelchair, you can use the elevators and no pass is required for that

They do but good luck getting it. We went with 2 special needs kids, between the two of them we had autism, chronic gastrointestinal issues, seizures, heart disease, chronic lung disease requiring oxygen, cerebral palsy, and immunodeficiency. And they said we didn' qualify for their equivalent of das. They even gave us a hard time when I requested a stroller as wheelchair tag for my daughters adaptive stroller, although they did give us that in the end. Probably won' go again, but if we did would pay the extra money to stay on universal property and use the express pass

And I would have simply asked for a refund of my money, as without it I couldn't do any of the attractions.

Universal also does not let scooters or, to my understanding, electric wheelchairs, in line for many of their attractions, requiring transfer to a manual chair. They are also very particular about one’s ability to sit upright without assistance and have at least one hand for the ship.

They do let them in the lines but at one point, you have to transfer to the push ones to get on a ride

There should be a listing in their website about that

You are correct on a person needs to sit upright and the hand

I have seen some families that are guests at give kids the world at universal
Not sure if I listed that program correctly but the WISH families do get special treatment at uo and Disney

Don’t know if they can do all the rides but have seen the families ride in some sections of the parks

cmwade, I would do exactly that also

If I found out I could not ride, I would want a refund

If anyone here needs personal info, sending an email to uo guest services about the das set up before a trip, would be beneficial

There are times guest services will call you to discuss your concerns
Do leave a phone number if you contact them
