Ok, I think it makes sense to upgrade but want others' opinions. My roommate says she's fine with upgrading but seems reluctant -- I think she was just confused in how I presented it, so I want to make sure it makes sense before I rework my presentation, lol.
I am going on a four-night trip in May, staying at Pop, free dining (QSDP.) My roommate/BFF is going as well, and I invited my teen cousins (13/1 to join us.) We will all be arriving Friday night, the kids will be leaving Monday early (noontime at the latest,) and BFF & I will leave Tuesday late afternoon.
We have planned a breakfast at CP, and then BFF and I are going to Raglan Rd for dessert Mon evening after the kids leave. We were going to buy a TIW card to have for this trip and for our eight-day trip in May during which we will *not* use the DDP. (We will get the TIW card regardless.)
My best estimates (may be some minor errors, but should be pretty close) are: dining plan will cost $44/person, so $176. Cost of 4 CP Bfast (w/holiday surcharge and TIW) & 2 desserts, excluding gratuities is $97.20.
This is a $78.8 increase overall, of which it's a $16.25 increase for BFF, and the rest is on me (myself and cousins.)
That $16.25 ($62.55 for me & kids) will allow us to have a full dinner at Raglan Rd, have a sit-down meal arrival night (when we are not going to the parks,) take a TS break from our full DHS day Saturday, and possibly also have a TS before we leave. Obviously gratuity is an additional cost, as well as the mugs, if we decide we want them. I am a little iffy on losing the extra snacks, as kids and I love to snack, but even at that my projection is 10 snacks leftover at the end of the trip on the QSDP.
Am I missing something in the math here? It seems to be a really good ROI, since we were already planning on doing a TS and a half anyways, lol.
My other issue is the ethical one of still receiving the kids' credits for Mon night, when they won't be there. But I don't think there's any way to have Disney not give them to us, right? We'll get them, and then my options would be to either use them, or just to leave them sit on the account? Moral connundrum.
