Does this sound possible?

I have booked a 2BR villa and a Studio at OKW in December (13 -18) through David's DVC Rental. Our group is 8 adults, including me and my husband, Dad & Stepmom, sister and boyfriend, and sister and 15 year-old son. Since it was my first time planning a WDW vacation renting DVC points, there was a learning curve. The only problem I have is that, when I entered into my rental agreement, I didn't know that villas in the HH category did not have dual entrance bathrooms, and that our rooms would be in the HH area. Since my sister and nephew will be sleeping in the LR, it would be more comfortable for everyone if we had the dual entrance. I tried booking an additional Studio, but nothing is available. When I spoke to David's about it, the person I spoke to said to me that, since the HH category is so desirable, we could see if they would move our rooms to a dual bathroom building when we check in. She did not think it would be a problem because they probably have no problem upgrading someone else to HH and "downgrading" us to another building. I also am aware of other posts on this board about the importance of NOT changing your booking category if you are renting points because it can mess things up for your DVC owner. David's said that wasn't a problem. I don't think it is essential for us to be in the HH area. We are a pretty laid-back group, so the bus situation doesn't worry me and I don't think we'll spend a lot of time a the main pool. So, since you all have much more experience than I do with these things, what do you think of this? Does it sound possible? Or will it create problems for the DVC owner? I imagine we could make some other visitors happy to get HH when they thought they couldn't. Thanks for any thoughts you can share.

It may or may not be a problem for the owner. They may cancel and rebook a reservation so it shows the points being credited and then removed. Sometimes that can be a problem because how they take the points. And technically, if you cancel the day you check in, those points are lost. They may do an even swap with someone else getting your HH area villa.

BUT, if you requested a lower floor (no elevators in any of the HH area villas) because of your father and stepmother, you might not be able to get a ground floor.

You would have to be in Turtle Pond or South Point to get a villa with the door through the laundry room. One more heads up, if your sister or her son want to use the jetted tub in the bathroom, there is only a partial wall between the tub and the bedroom. That portion of the bathroom is not totally separate from the bedroom.

It's a hard booking not a request, I doubt it's possible unless they canceled and rebooked in some way and that assumes it's available at check in. I'd try again to see if you can change it up front, not that difficult to do for the member. Just be aware if you aren't already, that David's has a no change policy I'm told so they may refuse to even try. They don't make changes that are win win generally. I had a 2 BR exchange at VB a few years ago and only needed a 1BR. I offered to swap for the 1 BR and let them have the 2 BR and they said they couldn't.

Thank you so much for the information. It sounds like trying to make a change could cause problems for the DVD owner, which I don't want to take a chance on. We'll make do with what we have. :)
