Looking for advice on our park days below. I haven't filled in the days completely but have a shell for a starting point.

As a few notes:
  • Park days are Tues Aug 29 – Fri Sept 1
  • We're coming with our kids who will be 12 and 8
  • Staying across the street with 4 day park hoppers
  • First trip to Disney in CA, but my older one's favourite ride is Splash from WDW. He loves roller coasters but not ones that go upside down or in the dark (so skipping California Screaming and Space Mountain – unless he changes his mind when we are there). He is Star Wars fan. At WDW he had no interest in Tower or Terror but not sure if the Marvel remake will change his mind.
  • My younger one is quite daring and will ride most rides my son will ride (but she wasn't interested in Splash at WDW)
  • Our kids don't know about our trip yet so any planning at this point is on assumption
  • Based on recommendations the current plan has Tuesday for Magic Morning (first park day). My only 2 hesitations are (1) We are new to Disneyland and thus don't know our way around (but I guess we just walk straight to castle, then Fantasyland is behind), (2) We are coming on Canadian discount so we would need to ensure we have our hard tickets on hand the night before

Day 1 - Tues Aug 29 (Magic Morning)
  • START AT DL
  • Peter Pan (only if < 100 people)
  • Alice
  • Mr Toad
  • Pinocchio
  • Show White
  • Matterhorn (if still magic morning)
  • Grab FP for Indiana Jones - I will be skipping Matterhorn so I could be a runner while family rides
  • Big Thunder
  • Splash Mountain (DH and DS) / Winnie (DD and me)
  • Pirates
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Ride Indiana Jones (using FP)
  • Lunch - Jolly Holiday
  • HOP TO DCA
  • Grab Soarin FP
  • Monster's Inc
  • Tough to be a Bug
  • Ride Soarin (using FP)
  • ...
  • Character Dinner at Goofy's Kitchen
  • Back to hotel
Day 2 - Wed Aug 30
  • START AT DL (early entry is DCA)
  • Jedi Training Sign Up (note-assigned time may change below - try for afternoon)
  • Grab Star Tours FP
  • Grab Fantasmic FP if exists
  • Matterhorn
  • Ride Star Tours (using FP)
  • Grab Buzz Light FP
  • Autopia
  • Ride Buzz Light (using FP)
  • Grab Indiana Jones FP
  • Splash Mountain (DH and DS) / Winnie (DD and me)
  • Ride Indiana Jones (using FP)
  • Lunch - Galactic Grill or Earl of Disney
  • If not in Downtown Disney - It's a Small World and Roger Rabbit
  • ...other stuff...
  • Fantasmic
Day 3 - Thurs Aug 31
  • START AT DCA (early entry is DL)
  • Avengers Training Sign Up (note-assigned time may change below - try for afternoon)
  • Grab Radiator Springs FP
  • Toy Story
  • Mater
  • Luigi
  • Ride Radiator Springs (using FP)
  • Grab Guardians of Galaxy FP (if DS wants to ride it)
  • ...
  • Ride Guarduans of Galaxy (using FP)
  • Lunch - Wine Country Tratoria (WOC dining package)
  • ...
  • World of Colour
Day 2 - Fri Sept 1

  • START AT DL (early entry is DCA)
  • no specific plan
  • dinner at Cafe Orleans
  • catch fireworks if we can

Thoughts?

I would get GotG FP first, TSMM FP second, ride RSR single rider or standby if you get there fast enough. With the way waits have been lately, I wouldn't count on POTC before lunch on day 1.

We were there the same timeframe last year. Crowds should be manageable though you will most likely see an uptic in the afternoons and on that Friday.

My only comment would be don't waste a MM on Peter Pan. At rope drop people will literally sprint so unless you are in front you are going to have a fair wait right out of the gate, time that could be used elsewhere in the park.

Enjoy your trip!

Definitely will note this. My son is saying that he wants to be surprised one time for a trip....so we might not tell them about our trip until close to the date. So if he says that he wants to ride Guardians, will grab that FP first and move the others. Not sure how they feel about single rider....especially for our younger one.
Ok..good to know about Pirates. We're flexible and will move it to later if we don't make it by then.

Great to hear about the crowds. The end of the week is some marathon so expecting more crowds then.
Yeah...Peter Pan first is only if 'small' line, but we'll definitely skip it and maybe try later one of of our days.
