I understand Eros's concerns. He sees George Bush as trying to start a war strictly out of vengence. I honestly don't understand why he sees it this way, but if I had that point of veiw, I would be screaming too.
If Iraq has weapons of mass distruction and is planning on using them on us, then we must prevent them from doing so. So the questions are:
1) Can we prove these weapons exist in such a way that everyone will feel certain about what we need to do? If we cant prove it, what is the wisest course of action?
2) If we can prove it, can we do this without tipping our hand to Iraq in such a way that they can hide such weapons before we can expose them?
I disagree with Eros on Bush's motavayions, but I understand his concerns. We are talking about invading another country here. We had better damned well be right. This sort of action should NEVER be taken lightly. At the same time, we may not have the luxury of waiting until we can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that we arr right. The problem is compounded by the fact that neither Eros or I know (or can know) all the facts at this point, so we are left to draw upon our own interpretation of the situation and our opinoin of our leaders when drawing conlcusions.
I will be honest, this situation scares me. If Eros is right and we invade unnessecarily, we will have killed thousands of people for no good reason. If Bush is right and Iraq is preparing to strike at us, thousands of our own people may die if we wait too long.
I must admit, I do not know what action is right and what action is wrong here. I trust our president more than some who post here, but I freely admit I don't have enough real information to form an reliable opinion, and so I fall back on my trust in God. I pray that our president and all the leaders of the world (including Sadam) consider the lives they hold in their hands and act wisely and with prudence.
