Castro played an important role in the Cold War. He can partly be blamed for the Cuban Missile Crisis, because he didn’t have to let the Soviet Union set up their missiles in Cuba. However, Castro thought that it would protect Cuba from being invaded by the Americans. The Soviet Union was only using him, and treating Cuba like an insignificant island in the middle of the Caribbean. When détente came around, he began to slowly put aside the bad relationship he had with the United States. The two nations were on a brink of an agreement. The only that Castro needed to learn was that not everybody can be trusted.

For history we have to put together a scarpbook about the Cold War. I chose to do Castro. Im just putting this at the end though...

So your question is, does that whole paragraph make sense?

To me no. Because I have no knowledge what-so-ever on Fidel Castro. Other than that he is/was? the president of Cuba.

But if I knew about it..I'm sure it would make better sense.

ahhh my cold war knowledge strikes again! (i knew doing a history degree was a good idea!)

Is this a conclusion? If it is, have you made these points already in the main essay or is this just a random paragraph.

It needs a bit more structure.
Maybe something like:

Castro played an important role in the Cold War one example of this is the Cuban Missile Crisis. He could be blamed for this because he didn’t have to let the Soviet Union set up their missiles in Cuba, it maybe because he thought that it would protect Cuba from being invaded by the Americans. It could be suggested that The Soviet Union was only using him, and treating Cuba like an insignificant island in the middle of the Caribbean in order to gain the upper hand. When détente came around, he began to slowly put aside the bad relationship he had with the United States and eventually two nations were on a brink of an agreement. Castro, ultimately, needed to learn was that not everybody can be trusted.

Put that into your own style a little bit more and you are good to go! If you need any help with the cold war i got an A* on that paper, so you can PM me whenever you want!

Personally i think you are being a little bit leanient on Castro, but each to his own.

Hope it goes ok :)
