Does this itinerary sound doable?

The details: The travelers are myself (30yo female) and my 5 1/2 year old son. I have been to WDW, but it was 11 years ago. 7 day/6 night trip 1-19 thru 1-25. Staying @ Pop Century. Have 4 day PH tickets, but will be willing to upgrade to 5 day PH tickets.

Arrival day (1-19): DTD, Disney outlets (Belz). Dinner @ either Nascar Cafe or Race Rock.

Thurs (1-20): MGM (morning EMH). Want to see the Stars & Motor Cars Parade @ 3:30pm. Will be departing to MK for 7pm Spectromagic Parade.

Fri (1-21): MK (evening EMH). Want to see Share a Dream Come True Parade @ 3pm & Wishes :wizard: @ 8pm. Also would like to see the Sword in the Stone Ceremony (various times throughout the day).

Sat (1-22): AK (evening EMH). Have to be @ MGM by 5:30pm to get to Fantasmic show @ 7pm

Sun (1-23): nothing planned yet. Maybe a trip to the beach or something?? Possibly upgrade to 5 day PH & hit another park.

Mon (1-24): Epcot (evening EMH). Want to do an Ice Cream Social @ 3pm & 9pm Illuminations.

Tues (1-25): McDonalds playplace before going to the airport.

Am I being realistic or too commando :earseek: ? My son can go & go & go, so although I am willing to go back to the room for afternoon rests, I don't think he'll need/want to.

I have never experienced the extra hours stuff, but everything I have seen on these boards basically has said that you should go to those parks early in the morning, but leave when it starts to get really busy. The thought is that MOST people plan to go to the EMH park each day, but only a small portion actually make it before 10:30 or 11. Hopefully others will chime in on this and let you know their actual experiences.

Other than that, I think you have the PERFECT plan in place. Its got goals and some framework but plenty of room to be flexible!!! Sounds like heaven to me and if your son can handle it, go for it! You might find you both wanting to get away for a bit during the middle of the day, but hubby and I are often able to find places to sit quietly and enjoy a snackie with the boys and kinda rest and regroup without going back to the hotel everytime.

 It sounds like a great plan with lots of flexibility.
Have a great trip!

just a quick question...you're going to AK emh evening but have to leave to get to mgm- - should you go to mgm on another night for fantasmic?

Sounds like a great plan to me! One thing you could do on that Sunday is visit some of the other resorts. The All Stars are great fun for kids to see (especially "Andy's Room" which is the Toy Story area at All Star Movies-our sons loved that!). You could also ride the monorail all the way around (and don't forget to ask the CM if you can sit up front with the driver-that's very fun!) Have a magical trip with your son!! :wizard:

I Know it's sound like unreasonable advice. I like to go, go, go, but my DH is in charge of reigning me in. When I look back at all the times I've been to WDW w/childern and W/out, the best times I have ever had were the one when I took my time didn't try to cram everthing into one trip. I always make sure to have at least one Pina Colada around the pool and sit in the hot tub everynight. Also it seems like when were not rushing to do everything is when the most magical moments occur (like when my then 5yr old DD won the chance to open Mickey's house in toon town.) What ever you do take time to breath and just enjoy all the greatness around! :grouphug:

Personally, I would go the extra day (Sun). (With the new MYW tix, it may be more cost effective too) I think you'll need more time for MK & EPCOT. I was surprised at how much my dd4 loved EPCOT. She had a blast at each country making the masks, doing penny presses, eating new foods and watching the shows. She learned how to say hello in each language & we made a passport on the computer (you can buy one there). I only planned one day & we only did TT in FW & 1/2 the WS countries. I am planning 2 EPCOT days next time! Also we need 2 full MK days (this is in Sept when there are no crowds!) to get everything done that we want to do. Especially if you are stopping to see parades & fireworks (which are must sees in my opinion). We saw Sword in the Stone a zillion times (like every hour on the hour I think) so no worries! Get there early & maybe your son will be picked to help Merlin (makle sure he raises his hand enthusiastically when they ask for volunteers). The Cindy's Surprise Celebration in front of the castle is awesome too (plenty of boy characters for ds to see!!), made me tear up!
No matter how your son feels, I recommend the break in the afternoon. Some of my dd's most fun times were in the pool!
I don't think you are being too commando. You HAVE to have somewhat of a plan or you won't anything accomplished.
Have a great time!!

Do yourself a favor and skip Nascar Cafe. Wife and I ate there in 2001. And we are big race fans. The food was far from being decent.
