One of my favorite things about the Fort is the music that plays in the Meadows trading post. I know it's just a compilation of a lot of western songs, but is there some sort of list of all the songs they have, or some sort of soundtrack?

Maybe.

Are you referring to the music that is mostly banjo/guitar/fiddle (which I have heard playing down around Pioneer Hall) or a more orchestral track (which I have heard playing over in the Wilderness Lodge lobby)? I can't recall what they play down around the Meadow TP and Pool (but I will be there later this month and will have my ears tuned).

Most places have background music that loops (replays) every 20-60 minutes or so. And some of it changes for the holidays.

oh boy, back in the 80's we had a tape of Fort Wilderness music. A real actual cassette tape, and we thought we were super groovy course we had to wait till we got home to play it because we had no tape player in the car. LOL. but it was a combination of Davy Crockett type music and other Banjo-y type music.

I know they used to have some Bela Fleck mixed in the playlist. If you're looking for a CD, check out Bela Fleck's Bluegrass Session: Tales from the Acoustic Planet Vol 2. I've heard some of it played around FW and WL over the years

[Fort Fanatics]

During our last trip to the Fort in October, me, my neice and sister were walking from Crockets Tavern to the Outpost and heard the music and starting dancing along, with my DH walking a bit farther away from us!! But when we arrived at the Outpost, there was a CM Police officer who wrote us a "Disney" ticket for dancing in the streets!!! That's a first for us!! Of course it was all in fun! My DH was upset that he didn't get a "ticket"!!!

I was at the Fort two days this past week and paid special attention to the music at the Fort.

First, Disneefun's list is the one for the loop played at the Meadow TP (but they play other loops too). I've got this particular loop and it does have a number of Aaron Copland's pieces. My kids are in their high school marching band and they did a Copland selection this past fall and I recognized several pieces from the Fort loops.

The loop played down at Pioneer Hall has the Bela Fleck's "Tales Vol. 2" songs as a previous poster said (track 7 The Over Grown Waltz and track 13 Dark Circles). If you like Bela's pieces on this loop you'll love his "Drive" CD. Or you might like the "Strength In Numbers:Telluride Sessions" CD he's on (all available on Amazon). Don't get his "Tales Vol. 1" as it's more New Age. Again, they play other loops too.

Barbosa, thanks for the link but it tried to download several things in the background while I was reviewing. My Webroot beat them back but it was frustrating.

The music at the Fort helps set the ambiance which is why I got the Bela Fleck cd's. When I get stressed at work it takes the edge off.

I didn't realize that some of the music was Bela Fleck. Thanks for providing specifics!

We have walked and biked so many times between the loops and the settlement. It is so cool to be all by yourself coming through the trees at the settlement and hear the music. We call those speakers "musical mushrooms"
