Does this exist?

I am looking for a list that tells me when Disney DVD's are going "back to the vault"... we're in the process of finally replacing our VHS tapes with DVD's but can't afford to do it all at once... I want to buy the ones that are going away first and then hit the new releases and such... I'm sure this exists but after a couple of hours of searching I just can't find it!!

I'm not sure about a list, but if you do miss some, have you considered burning them to DVD? I think at some video stores and electronics stores, you can rent DVD/VHS player/recorders. I'm sure, ultimately you'd want to have an authentic Disney copy, but if, by chance some hit the vault and you were worried about your VHS degrading during the 7 years you have to wait, you might be able to make due w/ a copy.

Also, keep in mind that just b/c a video goes on moratorium doesn't mean its unavailable. Disney doesn't usually pull stock, so anything left in stores is available until the store sells out of inventory. Walmart, Circuit City and other large stores often have inventory for quite some time. (there's also always Ebay!)

As for the list itself, I would call your local Disney store, they can probably get you the info, or give you the main Disney retail customer service #.

I googled around, and found this site. It's not really specific, but I looked up one that I know went "back into the vault" recently (b/c we bought it from Disney Movie Club the day before), Cinderella, and it states that it's unavailable on that site. So that might be the euphemism they use.

I think there is one - I've seen something before that is arranged chronologically and it tells what new releases are coming out and when things are going into the vault. Of course I don't have it bookmarked..... I know, not very helpful. But I think it DOES exist. Now to just find it.

DW used to have a paper copy, back in the VHS only days, but it's long since outdated. I'd be interested to find one online too.

I would love to have a list as well.

The link above is nice, but I would love to know how long I have to buy the movies that are out right now before they go back to the vault. I did see that Sleeping Beauty will be out in Oct. 2008!

I saw that, too! I looooooove Sleeping Beauty so I have it preordered on Amazon.

check the inserts of the new release DVD's (101 Dalmatians, Aristocats, etc.) as they usually have advertisemenst of what's coming out later in the year.

I've had luck with e-bay for DVD's that are currently "in" the vault.
