What fun are the legal drugs?

Every once in a while I need to be serious just to keep you all on your toes! :)

You know something else that bothers me is run-on sentences I mean use a period or comma or even some ellipses but just do not do run on sentences because they really bother me and I'm sure they bother other people who just don't want to stir the pot and admit that they don't like run on sentences either because it bothers them as much as it bothers me to have to read run-on sentences if you know what I mean.

what,in.the.world.are.you.talking.about?!?!.I.could.not.read.your.post.because...........there.....were.no.punctuation!?marks.....i.really.find.it..quite.rude..of.you.to.not.use.paragraphs.or.periods.or.commas.i.think.you.should.be.banned.immediately.if.not.sooner!?.()

Have you ever noticed that the legal drugs have all the bad side effects??? The other ones seem fine.

totally. :smokin:

The use of ellipses is *real* punctuation and I use them to convey the way I actually speak. Most "southeners" do not speak in a clipped, stacatto fashion and I'm no exception.

An ellipsis can also be used to indicate a pause in speech, an unfinished thought or, at the end of a sentence, a trailing off into silence. Ellipses are sometimes used in this manner for internet chat, email, and forum posts. This was taken from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellipsis

This is why I use ellipses.....except for the Southener part. I'm from NY and I talk fast! Thanks, ilovepcot!

I've gotten used to...the ellipse users....and although it's not.....my favorite....I'll cope, but......someone uses,,,,,,commas instead of dots,,,,,,,,and that does,,,,,,,drive me insane,,,,,,sorry if you,,,,,,,are the person who does this,,,,,,,.......

Edited to add: Oops, froggy if that's you, comma away, baby!!! You can use as many commas as you want!!!!

Sorry, I'm a spaze.
I can't type well on the laptop(which is missing 4 keys).
I'm so slow , if I had the correct punctuation.. the conversations will be over and I'd kill every thread :rotfl:

You know I read this earlier, and I thought, hey, I do that! And then I wasn't going to post. But, as I was writing an email to a friend, and put the ... in, I figured I'd comment. It does not bother me, and you know why I like to write that way? Cuz I'm on a discussion board....I'm not writing a thesis. I, personally, don't feel it makes it harder to read. As others have said, the paragraphs are the problem....having spacing w/periods instead of black spaces or commas, well, you still see a space and its just as easy to read.

Please don't ban frog he can only type with one hand (which is why there are so many mispellings) his right was damaged with hot tar while doing a roof years ago and hasn't got enough feeling in his fingers to type with both hands.

I on the other hand have no excuse for my bad punctuation except for the fact that I didn't think it was that important on an internet board. *Hangs her head in shame.*

No paragraphs are hard to read but I don't read many post longer than this one unless I am really really interested in the thread. Some on here I believe try to produce a novel when they post.

they wont ban me,,lol,, at leat not fort my spelin and grammartical stufffs.

I do think that you have a point!

OT, but I think the neuro dr is going to take me off the topamax since it's not helping my migraines. I'm still on it for now, though, since he took me off of a different Rx and didn't want to take me off of 2 meds at once. Works for me since the Topamax decreases my appetite and I'm losing weight. :teeth:

T&B shes not that bad,, most of the time,, well sometimes,, ok yaeh shes bad..lol...

Ellipses are perfectly acceptable if used properly, along with other punctuation. I use them frequently, and my posts are neither hard to read, or punctuated incorrectly. (Go ahead, search my posts...I promise they aren't in hieroglyphics.)

Now, when that's the ONLY punctuation someone uses, that is annoying!

I generally skip those posts.

:rotfl: Well sometimes the truth hurts :rotfl: I know I am probably missing alot of good stuff when I pass those long posts up but I just don't have time to read all that stuff lol Frog took a speed reading course in college so he can get through it all pretty fast but I can't do that. I have to read every word he takes out all the adjectives and adverbs automatically I just can't do that lol.
