Does this bother anybody else?

I'm not usually one to be negative about anything Disney, and this isn't a HUGE deal, but - it's hard enough to choose where we might want to eat 6 months in advance, without them changing the menus on us before we get there. It happens every time... I research all the menus to choose places that look like they have good offerings for everyone in our party, dutifully book them at 180 days (or soon after), and then a few months later, the menu's all different. Drives me crazy. Am I the only one?

I do wish dining reservations would open up more like 30-45 days in advance!

I'm not a picky eater so it doesn't bother me. There are generally at least a few things I would enjoy eating at any given restaurant.

It's been my experience that you can't count totally on the menus you find on-line. Look at them more as a guideline than anything else.

Almost all Disney menus in the restaurants are printed on one sheet of paper making it rather easy to change things on short notice. Many are dated with the date they're printed.

I'm happy with the ability to make reservations 180 days in advance.

As jerseyjanice says, they are at best a guideline as to what type of food you can expect.

No - it doesn't bother me. I can't imagine deciding what I want to eat 6 months ahead of time. I can barely decide 6 minutes ahead of time. Also, the on-line menus don't tell you what the chef's special might be on the day you dine.

I'm perfectly happy to decide what I'm going to eat when I see the menu and talk to the waiter.

We've had that happen a few time, we just try to make any changes to our reservations as quickly as possible.

I can relate.
Especially if you want to enjoy something you've already had and suddenly it's not offered.

BUT............
I find it most annoying having the 180 day time frame. INSANE to have to make ADR's that far in advance. This year we made all of our ADR's and THEN a FREE Dining offer came out...........months after.

I understand no one is required to make any ADR's, and it's my choice to do so. In my defense, I plan my days around EMH's, parades and fireworks first, then I see what ADR's I want to make according to where I'll be. Sometimes the park calender hasn't been posted at 180 days. This isn't rocket science and I'm always surprised that the higher ups let this continue:sad2:

IMO, I think 60 day start would be best.

I love being able to make ADRs 180 days in advance, so no for the most part it doesn't bother me. The only time it did was back when Ohana switched their fresh pineapple/caramel dessert to the banana bread pudding. I had booked it especially for my younger son who loves pineapple and is allergic to coconut, mushrooms, and any form of mint. The menu changed just about a week before we left. I called and asked for the direct number to Ohana. The person I spoke to took my number, but said to just tell them when we checked in that my son couldn't have the bread pudding because of the coconut they used in it at that time. However, the next day I got a phone call from the main chef at Ohana's. After again explaining the situation, he said no problem, asked what night our reservation was for, then asked if there was anything else my son would like instead. I told him my son wasn't picky and anything else was fine, but he was just allergic to those three items so couldn't eat the only dessert that was on their menu and that I had booked the restaurant mainly because he loved fresh pineapple. He told me they still had plenty of pineapples around and asked if he might like fresh pineapple spears with hot caramel. When I said yes, he told me he'd make sure they were available for him and that he'd leave a note and for us to just talk to the chef on duty that night as he'd be off. I told the waiter when we checked in and she came back to tell us it was already taken care of and the other chef had my son's dessert ready with a note on it.

It doesn't bother me. I look at it as a chance to try something new. I actually like it when restaurants mix up the menu.

Nope. I book my restaurants by location and food TYPE. Rarely does the type of food change even when the specific menu does.

I hate the 180 ADRs because I'm not much of a planner but I never look at menus before I arrive at the restaurant so menu changing doesn't bother me.

Doesn't bother me. I love ADRs being bookable 180 days in advance. I know the kind of food I like and what I don't like. All restaurants (except preplated of course) usually have pasta, steak, chicken, seafood, vegetarian, and some random entrees so I don't have to know ahead of time exactly what I want. I also don't use the menus posted online except to get a "feel" for the type of food served (and to play "if I was there with this menu I would order...").

Then again, I am not a picky eater at all. I love all sorts of food. If I don't want chicken one night, I have no issue ordering fish. I am not limited in what I eat so I don't mind when menus change.

The ONLY change that might make me have a sad face is if Jiko gets rid of the Taste of Africa app (the bread and dips) because it sounds SO good. Even then, I would just pick something else.

It does not bother me that they change the menus. Most restaurants change up their menus from time to time. I think it would be worse if they never changed their menus.

That's why I find places that have at least two things each of us can enjoy. Chances of both of them disappearing are a lot less. I have never had to change or cancel a reservation just because the menu has changed.

It doesn't bother me at all. I doubt I'd ever go to any restaurant and not be able to find a single thing to order. I'd rather have new flavors and seasonal ingredients than a stagnant menu.

I think 180 days in advance for ADRs is ridiculous. Those who don't plan that far ahead are at too much of a disadvantage. Ironically, some of their most loyal customers are the ones who are at a disadvantage. People who go multiple times a year don't usually plan that far out. (I know some do, but not the majority.) Also, rarely do people stay with all the restaurants they booked at 180. (Again, I realize some do, but I'm willing to bet most don't.) That's just too far out for most people to make firm decisions. If the window wasn't so far out, there would be less ADR turnover & less double booking.

As for changing menus, that doesn't bother me at all. As long as the quality stays the same, I'm glad they change them up occasionally.

I agree!

I have no problem with 180 day ADR's. If we get there and we are not in the mood for a certain meal, we see if there is availability at a restaurant that we would enjoy that night. If not, we have our back-up ADR or we can just cancel and do QS.

No it doesnt bother me because you have plenty of time to change it to another restaurant...I am going in 26 days and am shocked at how many openings there are

It is not out of the norm for restaurants, even chain restaurants like Chilis, Olive Garden etc, to change their menus to go with the seasons...happens all the time

I know that the signature restaurants always change with the seasons, regular 1 TS places do not do it that often
