sorry a little paramoid i dont know how to swim and feel like i will walk and the ship wilk move and cause me to felt off

When we had rough seas they closed the decks that had regular height railings. The upper decks where the pool and most people congregate have high plexi glass berriers. Disney has already thought about your safety concerns. Wishing you a magical cruise.:flower3:

Relax enjoy your cruise. You are not going to go fell off the ship. People go off they are trying to kill themselves or someone threw them overboard.

You would have to be in some pretty high seas for the ship to pitch enough where you would fall off. If that was the case the decks would be closed and no one allowed out on deck. Actually, if the deck pitched that much it would most likely mean the ship was distress and you would have a whole of lot more to worry about! High waves will cause the ship to rock a bit but nothing like you are imagining!

And look at how many cruises are out there vs. how many accidents! You are much more likely to be involved in a car accident than any other kind.

With all the toddlers and little kids on the ship, some of whom are unsupervised at times, if it was possible to fall off the ship each sailing would be stopping at least a couple times to retrieve people from the ocean. As another poster mentioned, the only way to go overboard is if someone does it intentionally or is doing something stupid like climbing over a verandah railing. We had some pretty rough seas and on one of our cruises and they the crew adapted to it quickly by closing the aquaduck and other areas that were less protected. I understand your concern though. No matter how much I *know* you can't fall off, I always have nightmares leading up to our cruise that one of my kids will end up overboard. Once you're on the ship though, you see how safe it is and your worries will be gone.

As someone who worries about this I would say that the only real risk is if you have young children and a verandah room. If they really wanted to they could crawl up and over the verandah railing. We do sail with a verandah but I don't let my younger children out there. I did let my DD14 out there to sit and read but with a strict lecture to stay seated. She is very tall and clumsy.

Also I wouldn't let a toddler or adventurous child on Deck 4 - especially unsupervised. The railings are lower than on the top deck and there are many doors and gaps in the plexiglass. Too many opportunities for something to go wrong IMHO.

Op I completely sympathize with your concern!

As many of previous posters have mentioned, there are guards, rails etc to prevent that sort of thing. To fall off a ship, you have to be DETERMINED or have help. (I know that sounds a little morbid / nefarious, but 'accidents' don't really happen.) Anyplace that is for passengers will have railing. There are danger zones only accessible to crew. (For example, if you ever had dreams of pulling a Kate/Leo 'flying' scene, don't count on it.)

In cases of bad weather, certain portions of the ship can be off limits or in extreme cases no one is allowed on deck.

I have been on transatlantics (new york to southhampton) where the waves got as high as the ship and rolled over it. (But this was on an ocean liner built for the type of weather.) Everyone was inside and safe when the weather was super bad. What worried me more was my sea sickness. ;)

Most cruises you arent going to encounter crazy wave weather, and if you do have hiccups like this on your cruise, your safety is important to the crew staff too. I was worried about my DS when he was a toddler because of his lack of fear and LOVE of near death adventures. I felt completely OK with him on Disney.

You will be fine! Enjoy your cruise and have a great adventure!

Just an aside, but I think you mean roll. Pitching is fore to aft movement. Roll is side to side. The "rocking" most feel is roll. Roll is somewhat ameliorated by stabilizers.

Thank you bethy. I have a 4 year old with severe ADHD and we worried about taking him on cruise, but we decided it was safe and we leave in 21 days. It's good to know what areas we should avoid, just as an extra precaution.

Thank u sooo much we are officially goingo on our first cruise and what a better way disney fantasy countdown has started

Near impossible to "fall off". And in all these years I don't think a single child has been lost over a verandah!

Thanks for the clarification!

While on my cruise in November they closed decks four, nine and 10 on the magic because of the weather and sailing conditions. They had extra activities because of the weather conditions to keep everyone busy
