We'll be staying around the port the night before (maybe two nights) before our cruise. We're used to staying at Disney, so staying anywhere else will be very different! Anyway, what do you do the night before the cruise, and how late is the pool open till?

The Rad has a large pool but no slide. The pool is open late and has a pool bar. There is a restaurant that when we were there was overcrowded for both breakfast and dinner. We played in the pool, ate dinner, and spent some time watching TV.

Its filled with people going on all sorts of cruises - and there were some people who were in full swing "party cruise" mode. I wasn't comfortable too close to the pool bar (and I'm a worldly kind of girl).

My first instinct was to book AKL for one night, and I really wish I would have.

We normally play at the pool for several hours, eat at the pool bar and if they have a band we listen to it. We normally turn in fairly early and wake up very early. Lat year we ate at the resort for breakfast and the year before we headed to MickeyD's.

Hi,Just stayed at the Radisson. No slide but a nice pool. Can swim under a waterfall. We went to Grills for dinner - 10 of us including 4 kids. Great place and reasonable. Had music etc. Had a great time and were ready for bed when we got back to the hotel. In the morning we sent somone to McDonalds and he brought back goodies for Breakfast.
Oh on the Grill website there is a coupon for a 10% discount - I used it and did not even feel tacky. A fun place.

Wish I were going again. Have fun.

I just looked it up, here it is:

Grills Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar
505 Glen Cheek Drive
Cape Canaveral, FL

It's about 4 mins away from the Raddisson.

We also went to grills and loved it! We stayed at the Radisson 3 times now prior to cruises and loved it, the pool is very nice, no slide but nice big pool....there was nothing happening around the pool to make anyone uncomfortable even when we were in there at 9pm the times we were there.

Here is a picture of the pool and my kids.

We stayed there last year prior to our cruise. We had a "mini" DisMeet poolside that was an absolute blast.

Finally getting to meet people we had been posting and chatting with for over a year. I would recommend this idea to everybody that stays at the Radisson.

We are looking forward to spending 2 nights there before our upcoming cruise and also enjoying dinner at Grills.

Is the beach within walking distance?

We ate at Grills and I have to say that it was the best seafood I have ever had. I had the grilled Mahi MAhi and it was out of this world. Better than any seafood I had on the cruise.

Is Grills in walking distance, and is Cocoa beach too?

Thank you for the photos. We are cruisin in November for Catherine's 13th birthday. We didn't want to miss too many days of school so we are flying into Orlando the day before our 7 day western.

I chose the Rad for a one day stay of fun and from the looks of the pool the choice is a good one.

BTW...is Grills on property or a restaurant separate from the Rad?

Also, where is MickeyD's in relation to the Rad?

Thanks for any help,

BB

Grills is not on the property, you will need to drive there. I think McDonalds was right across the street though.

I can not remember the name of the restaurant on property. They have a buffet I think for most night or you can order from the menu. We have only ate there for breakfast. If you have breakfast there it gets very crowded very early. We did not have to wait more than 5 minutes for a table but after that the place was packed. I would opt for McDonald's the next time just so we do not have to deal with the crowd.

I am not familiar with Grill's. I know we ate one dinner at a place on the left of the street. It was on the side with the ocean it was not ocean front but the meal was great and they had buy one get one margarita. It was nice.

Unfortunately, grills is a bit far for walking. Besides McDonalds and some other fast food place , there is an Italian Restaurant right next door which I heard was pretty good.

Oh thanks for the pictures of pool. Kids are lovely. I was there only about two weeks ago and got no pictures at the pool.

Anyway, once again I thinkthe Radisson a good place to stay.
Have fun, Connie

The ocean is within walking distance, but it took us a good 20 minutes to walk and then we had to cut through some condos to see the water.

The Radisson is at the widest part of the island and on the opposite side of the Atlantic.

If you are planning on "beaching it" you should rent a car.

Our first stay at the Radisson we did not have a vehicle and felt a little stranded, what can we do now type of feeling. We arrived the day before the cruise around 1.

Our second stay, we rented from Budget at MCO. We went to Kennedy Space Center during the day, and Grills for supper - we saw the Magic leaving. Good food and we did use the coupon too. It is not a quiet restraunt by the way, band playing music outside.

We then had the car to do a quick grocery stop at the Publix and cruised the A1A road, but it was getting dark by then.

The next morning 2 of us returned the car - about a 1/2 mile south of the Radison and their shuttle brought us back to the Radisson to meet up with the rest of our party and take the Radisson shuttle to the Wonder.

Worked over very well.
