Does the menu at Victoria & Albert's ever change?

Hello everyone. I was wondering  about our dinner plans in Sept for Victoria and Albert's. I have read many wonderful reviews of the place and we are going to be in the dining room, not the chef's table although I hear both are wonderful :cloud9: .

Most of the postings seem to talk about the same dishes. I thought the menu changed all the time, but since I have never been and I am not a Disney expert, I have no idea. Now the menu that has been talked about...shrimp wrapped appetz., kobe beef, cheese plate, and other items like quail...all sounds yummy but I did not know when we got there in Sept, if we could expect a different assortment of choices?

I am sure there are many people here who have been more than once and I would love to know what to expect and also what to wear. I know it is dressy, but I did not know how dressy other than my dh had to wear a coat...but should he also wear a tie?

Thanks so much

They do make changes in the menu from time to time, especially to consider what is available and fresh. The changes tend to be seasonal. Each time I have gone there have been minor changes, replacing a few items and not a overall redo of the menu.

They say that a tie is not necessary but I will usually wear not less than a sports coat and a very nice Disney tie. The first time I went I wore a suit, and definitely was not overdressed.

I am excited to go, anything you want to suggest I get or try while I am there :wave2: ??

If it is available on the menu the night you are there, we suggest the abalone. I think there might be a small up-charge for choosing this, but it is well worth IMHO. We hope you enjoy V&A, we are enchanted with this restaurant...Easter week will be our 3rd visit in 2 years. It is a must do on all our trips. Be prepared for an incredible experience. :cloud9:

Used to be the menu changed on a regular--almost daily basis. Nowadays, I'd say it changes "periodically". We eat at V&A each trip (and meal # 22 there is coming up in just 3 weeks!!) and often find ourselves at the Grand Floridian for one reason or other. I make a point of checking out the menu at V&A, and often find it's the same one we've already had (or will have). Of course, only going once or twice a year almost guarantees a different menu at each meal....
Dress-wise most men do wear ties--although it is NOT a requirement. I used to wear a suit and Mrs U used to wear a long dress. But over time we've "casualized" ourselves so that now I wear a lightweight blue sportcoat, tan slacks, and a Disney tie. Mrs U will usually wear a nice pants-suit. But as has been noted by Cheshire Figment, you won't be overdressed in a suit and you'll probably see some ladies in evening gowns.
Hard to predict what will be on the menu the night you go, but over the years they have always had some sort of filet available and Mrs. U will always order that. I like all of the fish entrees I had over the years, but am also partial to the Jamison lamb when it's on the menu

We've only dined there once. DH wore a suit and tie. I wore a black street length dress, pearls and heels. We seemed to be right about average in the dress cide department. Like UR, we've noticed that the menu doesn't change as much as it used to--we do check it out when we dine at Citrico's every few months.

I'd like to echo everyone else's comments, the menu used to change more regularly than it does now. Typically they change one or two items at a time now.

While we're also talking about things to try (or not)

Lets talk about the Kobe Beef - there is an UP charge for trying this and Kevin and I had it last trip, and do NOT feel it is worth the extra charge. I love steak, but just didn't find that it was that much different than a good piece of fillet.

Another must try in my book is the fois gra, we ALWAYS have this.
