We're planning our trip for October 16-21, and I've realized that the Funai Classic (golf tournament) is being played at WDW that week. Does the tournament have an effect on crowds at the Resorts, Parks, etc?
It doesn't really affect the parks that much, as most people coming in for the event are there to watch the golf matches. It will, however, affect crowds at the resorts and restaurants, and it will obviously be tough to get a tee time at one of the courses. Downtown Disney sees a bump as well.
We were there last year in October during the golf and the parks were lovely and clear and the resorts were fine as well. Obviously you will still need to PS for character breakfasts and shows though.
The dates are October 20 - 23. We were there last year and saw no real increase in crowds. This year we are staying at Shades of Green so I'm sure we will encouter some increased traffic in the area.
Do you mean the parks were like summer crowds during the day or was MNSSHP like summer crowds? Do you think there is a difference in crowds from the golf tournament weekend vs Columbus day weekend?
We were there this past October and it was the best trip we have had as far as crowds. We did not wait more than 10 minutes for any ride. We are talking about going again this year.
