Does the Fantasy have a Brig??

I suspect things like a brig may not be a dedicated space, but a space that can be used as a brig if the need arrives.

Just in thinking about it, I would tend to agree with you. And therefore, since they can put any place into service, YES they have a brig. :)

As for the wages, from talking to people on Royal, it seems that depending on what your job is, you're not necessarily getting those low low wages. So the people leading the exercise classes are making money on a different "schedule" than the housekeeping staff, etc. I wonder if it's the same on Disney.

They have a morgue too. Ships are floating cities and have to deal with all the issues cities have to deal with.

The vessels carry a number of body bags. The morgue is usually only a unit similar to what you see on TV, where the body in the bag is rolled into the refregeration unit and kept cold or even frozen depending on the situation and cuase of death.

Why the concern??? Are you planing on doing something illeagal?? All ships have "brigs". Where depends on the type of ship. Could be down in the hold or anywhere the Captain deems necessary and secure enough to fit the need. The Captain of any ship has full authority to put anyone in the " brig". ...good luck...

Concern??

Seemed like a simple straightforward question to me---

Funny that Uncelromulus just asked this question. I was at lunch with some friends that work for Disney and there was someone in the group that was a DCL crew member for a few years as an assistant to some of the top officers. I asked them about the brig and their answer was an immediate, "yes" to whether there was a brig onboard or not. The conversation changed to something else so I did not get to ask further questions about it.

There was a very verbally abusive "gentleman" on our January 30th cruise. Absolutely drunk and yelling the F word every chance he got to the 3 bartenders at the Cove one evening. I was sort of hoping he spent some time in solitary, but not really sure what happened.

Evidently, the bartenders made the mistake of asking for the ID of his daughters (not sure of their ages but they had an "A" on their KTWC according to Loudmouth Loser) An "A" of course means they are 18 or over but this wasn't sitting well with LML. And when the bartenders explained that they asked for ID to verify drinking age as per requirement, LML grew more agitated and increased the volume of his voice. After verbally abusing and calling the bartenders "F ing monkeys" a few times, and sharing that he had paid X amount of dollars (like our cruises were free moron?) LML left the Cove and maybe went back to his cabin to sleep it off.
In the meantime, other passengers had heard all this (including myself) and spoke to the bartenders who were verbally abused. They were shaken up a bit with the anger of this person, but said it happens enough to know that they have to stay calm and in control and keep the safety of themselves and other passengers in mind. This means that they cannot argue back or tell the drunk idiot to chill out and sleep it off. Nope, had to stand there and take it.

Now that I think about it, I bet this guy was probably pitching a royal fit when we had to skip CC due to mechanical issues. Since he spent all that money and everything.

Oh, and then there were the 3 massively drunk people staggering back to the boat late from St. Thomas. We were about 5 minutes from leaving, when the officer went out with her walkie talkie and escorted them back onto the ship. The woman in the party was so snokered that she was leaning heavily on the officer to get up the gangway or she would have tumbled backwards. All three were doing the "frankenstein careful drunk walk" It was sort of funny and awkward watching from Deck 4 while the kids and I walked on the track.

The first time I have ever observed either case happening.

Be fine with me if they put him off at the next port. Period. People line up to pay DCL to go on cruises, we don't need this.

I had a conversation one night with a female bartender in Skyline about this issue. I had seen her on a couple of prior cruises. She related how she had worked in bars/nightclubs in her home country where she had received no training whatsoever. In that case, if a patron became abusive, she simply brought it to the attention of a bouncer and the patron would be shown the most direct route the sidewalk, no questions asked. She said that DCL was different. They didn't have the ability to simply eject a patron that had become abusive, but on the other hand, they had been provided extensive training on how to handle such a situation. Of course, if someone becomes violent, they will be dealt with, no matter what fare they may have paid. But if they are just verbally abusive, the training is based on de-escalating the situation rather than just having them thrown overboard.

Actually the 18 through 20 age group has a "B". "A" means 21 and over.

Good to know. Thanks.

Drunks will be drunks....they think its.just having a.good.tome. I fact they have a.drinking problem and eed.help.

Add ro rhe above, they are putting themselves and others in danger and by nearly delaying th vessel inconvemced.there fellow passengers.

Exactly.

I was wondering if they would. He was so verbally abusive and nasty to the bartenders. You could see that the one he directed his wrath on was shaken but determined to be understanding and move on with his evening.
