Does the EM plan everything for you?

Ok...im struggling with custom vs intimate again...

I know i'll spend $7500 already and I also know i'll probably spend more with a custom but I'm thinking it would be a lot easier to have an EM who'd be able to book my dessert party and dinner and not have to deal with Epcot catering on my own.

Do they also plan or help with the plans for rehearsal dinners or welcoming parties? Although i'm not calling them by those names I am planning other parties during the week for the whole vow renewal group?

thanks

Pete - our Em helped us plan our dessert party (which we did the day of the wedding). He also helped plan our rehearsal dinner with my MIL. In addition he arranged PS for us for our 'Farewell Breakfast' at Cape May Cafe. My EM was a godsend, and helped make all aspects of planning super easy!

Hhmmm sounds like you had a great EM.

If that is the norm I think that would make my decision final once and for all. I'd feel much better with one person to help with all my plans than having to call Epcot for Illuminations, MGM for Fantasmic party and so on...

Hi, Peter1706. So far my EM is handling it all -- my WP ceremony, my DS dinner party, and (hopefully -- if I ever get the quote!) a dessert party on the night before the vow renewal. He's been wonderful to work with (and I worked with him on a non-FTW basis for my recent Summerhouse dinner party).

My EM handled everything as well. PS seating for several dinners, specific floral arrangements, transportation, etc. She was great!

The only thing you may want to follow up on is your officiant! I believe that Disney sets up the officiant as part of your intimate package. With a custom wedding, you reserve/pay the officiant separately. With our wedding I was also responsible for making the PS arrangements for our rehearsal dinner, but the EM followed up from there. If you are spending $7500 and are getting married during the week already I'd go with the custom, that opens you up to chose a lot of different venues (for reception, etc.) and makes the wedding planning more flexible.

I'm with others here - if you are looking at that as your approximate budget you will likely find you get a lot more choices of special things to do by going custom. Plus - and this may not always be the case but it was for us - you seem to be more likely to get "upgrades" going custom, such as if a larger, nicer venue opens for an Illuminations party you'll be a higher priority to upgrade if you want to. In our case we had something come up where Illuminations start time was changed to an hour and a half later than originally planned. It meant we either would have had a much longer reception and dance time (but would owe the DJ) or we would have to come up with something else. Our EM made a couple calls and next thing we knew we were whisked away to a reserved seating area for the Candlelight Processional. Not every couple can say Barbara Eden wished them a lifetime of happiness on their wedding day!
