I think I have read on here that they do, but I just want to verify! :thumbsup2

Someone posted in another thread about finding a coupon link for a CVS Gift Card with a new or transferred Rx.

I currently have a Rx at CVS and a new one to be filled. So, in theory, I could do the CVS to Target transfer and get a GC. Then the next day I could do the new Rx and get another GC. It says 'Limit one Gift Card per customer per visit.'

What do you all think??

Our Target does.

I'll probably get flamed for this but I'm a prescription transferer. We're lucky to live in an area with a Target, Osco, Meijer and CVS within blocks of each other. I take advantage of the coupons quite often. My favorite is Osco since they give you an extra $5.00

Right now, I have 3 $25.00 Target cards, 2 $30.00 Osco card and 4 $25.00 CVS cards in my wallet. :woohoo:

I used the 3 that I got for Meijer early this year since they have very short expiration dates.

Are there any coupons out there for other stores? We have Rite-Aid, Walgreens, Kmart, Kroger and Meijer. I guess I could also do Target or CVS, but they are a bit further.

This might be a dumb question, but what exactly is a prescription transfer? Is it when you get an initial Rx filled at one pharmacy, and then have the refill filled at another, or is it something else?

TIA!

Wow! I'm really surprised to see posts that some Targets are accepting CVS coupons. Ours does not. Would have thought this was a Corporate decision. Congrats. to you all.:wizard:

Yes, that's exactly what it is. You get a prescription from your doctor for several months' of medicine X. You bring it to Walgreen's and get it filled today. Next month, you go to CVS and ask the pharmacist to transfer your prescription from Walgreen's. Voila! Could take fifteen minutes, could take a couple of hours - depending how busy everyone is.

I do just want to add that doing this really isn't in your best healthcare intrest, pharmacies have safeguards in place to help prevent possible drug interactions, having X prescription filled at one store, Y prescription being filled at another store, Z prescription filled at another store...well lets say one of your prescriptions is from family doctor, and one is from your GYN (or scarier cardiologist, neurologist, etc if you have lengthy medical problems) but X medication should not be taken with Z medication....then there is problems. When you stick with one pharmacy they keep track of your medication history and are better able to catch potential dangerous medication interactions.

Very good points! I don't think I'd want the hassle of switching pharmacies all the time, anyway. Plus, we're fortunate that for long-term scripts we can use a mail-order service provided through our insurance company for a 3-month supply.

On a related note, I just wanted to say that I was really impressed with Walgreens's pharmacy. I had to have a prescription filled out of state recently when I was away. I ended up at a Walgreens, and the labeling they put on the bottle included a description of what the pill should look like, including color, form (in this case, tablet) and what should be written on both sides of the pill. Given news accounts I've read about people getting the wrong Rx, I thought that it was great that they did this.

This is a very good point IF any Rx is something brand new. In my case, these are the same meds my Mom has been taking for several years now, so I have no worries about drug-interaction. All prescribed by the same Dr too.

Target does this as well. I was rather impressed too. :thumbsup2

OK where did you find the Target $25 ones. I have a bunch of prescriptions to transfer and I'm in the process of transferring them all to Target because they are more conventient to my house, doctor and is on the way home for DH. I have $10 coupons but would LOVE to bump it up to $25.

Since Target honors competitor coupons, I used CVS coupons at Target. CVS had them in their ad for several weeks in a row. Since my neighbor wasn't going to use hers, she gave them to me. I think that Meijer has a $20.00 coupon in this weeks ad. If you have a Meijer in your area, you could use that coupon at Target.
