Does Space Mountain have a single rider line?

We don't normally ride Space because I'm a big old chicken. And although my son can handle it, it's still a little outside his comfort zone. But, he's a Star Wars fanatic & has decided he wants to ride it while it's Hyperspace Mountain. So, I'm just trying to plan how much time to set aside for that. Thanks!

I just pulled out a map from our trip in December. The Single Rider symbol does not show by HyperSpace Mountain.
I only see it by Indy, Matterhorn and Splash Mt.
If I were you, I'd go through the line with him to enjoy the Que and as you reach the loading area there is an exit. He can hop on the ride and you can exit, with the plan to meet up by the viewing monitors.

Space is one of my favorites. But I do know how you can feel if it's not right for you. I don't handle closed in situations too well. I lost it once in a caving tour of the Oregon Caves. My kids (now in 30's and 40's) still tease me about it. Too tight and no where to go.....

I found out that if I sat in the last seat end row of the cars, I could handle it. I had the front seat a few times and I did NOT like it and my face showed it on the ride photo, enough terror and pain that people were laughing at it. Thankfully, I kept trying and found that the last seat works for me. No more crazy ride photos.

They used to have one, but no longer due to how dark the ride is. I would grab a FP.

What does how dark the ride is have to do with a single rider line?
They found that it was not appropriate to pair single riders on such a dark ride, since kids as young as 7 could be using it...in case some stranger got too touchy.

Pretty sure it has more to do with the time sensitivity of the ride...

Yep.

No single rider and get a FP it has been a busy ride as HSM. And as a Star Wars fan its a must ride :)

Thanks everyone for the info & tips. I think I may put him in line first thing in the morning & go get FP for our next ride while he's doing that. He'll be turning 12 the weekend we're there, so he'll be ok in line by himself.

I must say though, I love Star Wars so much that I've considered trying to brave the ride. But, then I remember when my friends got me on Space once. I was 18 & came off the ride crying hysterically. I have a serious fear of heights & it just wasn't dark enough, so I could see exactly how high up I was. I think it's best I avoid it & don't traumatize my son by shrieking in his ear through the whole ride. I'm so jealous of all of you that get to ride it though. I've listened to the audio & it sounds so cool!

Hyperspace is DARK.

If I lived my life by all reactions I had when I was 18 my life would be really weird. I'd try it.

I liked HSM a lot and thought it was fun to ride. I think it's dark, but not dark enough that I can't usually see the track ahead of me (especially if I'm in the front row). One thing to note...if you think your son might really like it and would want to ride more than once that day, I would consider getting him a FP in the morning. HSM FPs are probably the most popular FP at this point or at least as popular as RSR, so they do/will run out. If you both get the FP, then you have the option of riding it with him (and seeing the limited theme-stuff added to the queue - not much really). If you choose not to ride it, then he can use your FP and ride it twice during the FP window. It does mean you won't be able to get another FP for 2 hours or until the time window opens, whichever comes first (except WoC and Buzz), but if he likes the ride, it's worth considering because the standby line can really build up quickly.

(Another note, if you go to DL on Saturday morning, keep in mind that it is the EMH/MM day, so folks with EMH/MM will already be in Tomorrowland when the park opens to the general public. HSM is open during EMH/MM, so there will probably already be a fairly considerable line by the time the park opens. However, they do not issue FPs during EHM/MM.)

I like this recommendation.

If you do decide to stand in the queue with him, and decide not to ride it, you can just cross the vehicle, and wait for him right there (out of the way, of course). The ride only takes a few minutes.
