Does she need her own MDE account?

My wife and I have a family trip booked for June to the World. I already have our reservations, tickets, and dining set up on my My Disney Experience account. My wife comes home the other day and tells me that will be going in April as a chaperone for a school trip. The first question I asked was if they needed anymore chaperones! My next question was if she needs to set up her own MDE account for the April trip, or can she set everything up under my account? Hmmm....

omg good question -- if she was the "leader" on your family account, she wouldn't have to. But it seems like if she used yours for the April trip, the resort reservations etc. would be in your name -- that could be a problem.

I know some people have been reporting back from school/group trips that group tickets don't work the same way as regular tickets. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think groups get to use the 60 day advance FP+. There might not be any benefit to her having her own MDE account, depending on the type of trip this is. If it's a school trip it probably won't be booked under her name, right? Just through the school's name? Will she have free reign to make her own resort/dining reservations, or is it all going to be as a group?

Although if she has the app she can get wait times and things, so that would be helpful.

I think it really depends on how independent from the group she will be able to be.

Hopefully someone who's gone on a group trip will be able to give you better information!

Enjoy your trip in June and hope your wife has fun with her bonus trip!!

Since yours is a family trip and your wife has a group trip separately, I'd prefer to have a separate account for that one, rather than have it in the family account. My reason would be purely personal preference but I wouldn't have it any other way.

If she is already on your family list, send her an invitation to plan and share so that she can manage her own profile. She doesn't have to but it would be easier.

Every group reservation is different. The tickets are designed specifically for that event and they may or may not be sent in advance. Some groups are required to stay onsite and others not.

However I was told that most can now use fp, depending on what the group asked for, and can book in adv if staying onsite. They also offer ddp for group reservations too. And yup, we got MBs.

I guess these responses bring up a more interesting question for me, in that how do school groups usually tour the World then? They will be staying on-site, but will she even be able to make FP+ reservations for herself. Or are these options out of her control? Thanks for the feedback everyone!

If she goes as a chaperone I would think the needs of the group should come first before hers. Some of those kids may have never been there before and may never be back there so it would be really selfish to try and plan things for those kids. As a chaperone you should be in the background supervising making sure they behave rather than plan their trip.

I'm sure that she will do the "right thing" in fulfilling her chaperone duties, but the perpetual planner in me is still curious... How DOES the group process works now with the FP+ system???
