Hi all. I know Disney security opens lunch bags when you bring them in, but do they open lunch containers or reusable water bottles (like Kleen Kanteen)?? Just wanting to know what to expect in this regard. We haven't been yet with the enhanced bag checks/metal detectors.

TIA!

No, they will not open a Tupperware container or canteen. We try to use clear Tupperware, so that they can see it, but they never ask to open anything. We have things wrapped in tin foil, which they don't ask about either.

We brought a large plastic Coleman water cooler just with ice and water (the kind you can drink directly from) and several security officers asked me to open it. I think it is better to expect that they will, though they may not. Any container that is not clear and through which they cannot see is fair game for opening.

They could - they are very thorough now. They looked in glasses cases even. Never did that before.

yes some of them will look in every nock and craney of your bag and any thing that is in it others will not I just go with the flow and not worry too much if they want to see in something they will look or ask you to open it.

The liquid container might get open just so they can make sure it's not anything alcoholic. Plastic food containers rarely get opened but it really depends on the CM you get

Yup, they have opened ours several times. Even commented on how nice it was to bring them lunch a few times.

OP, be prepared for anything we've had them let it go and many who have opened everything..... o_O

How would they know by looking? I hope they wouldn't stick their nose in it... Even then, a clean vodka in a strong mixer wouldn't be detectable.

They do sniff it. Plenty of people here have reported about this, security checking plastic bottles by smelling

We were in the security check at MK just a week or so ago, and someone had brought in several "to go" boxes from one of the resorts. (seriously, they had a shopping bag with 4-6 individual meals in them, it was rope drop so I'm assuming it was breakfast). The security guard had her open each and every one of them.

Mind you, it took a few minutes, but I'm not complaining. I think the security tightening is a good thing.

I would be upset if the actually got their nose close enough to smell my drink.

Providing they're sniffing in, not snorting out, what difference does it make? If you've got booze in there, it will kill the odd bacteria that might drift in.

Totally depends on the CM. Same exact bag of stuff, two totally different security inspections. Some will unwrap cameras, undo every zipper, make you remove everything from the bag to ensure there are no hidden pockets or zippers. Others will give simply move stuff around, give it the squeeze test to make sure you aren't hiding anything, and call it good. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
