We are sailing on the Magic Jan 28th and this is our first DCL cruise. Does scoops cost to have Ice cream. Our son was spoiled on RCCL because they have free ice cream all day in the Windjammer cafe. He thinks that all ships have this and I need to prepare for the cost if Ice cream is not free.

Thanks
Judy

Yes, the ice cream is free!!! If you choose to eat at Palo, there is a surcharge per person--if you want snack foods(candy, popcorn) at the bar near the Walt Disney Theatre, there is a charge. I can't think of any other "food" that cost extra on the cruise.

My DS loves scoops and the french fries at Plutos. It's the main source of his food "on vacation".

Not only is the ice cream free at Scoops, the pizza is free at Pinnochio's by the pool and there are also hot dogs, nachos, chicken strips and cheeseburgers free by the pool at Pluto's Doghouse all day as well. It's a kids food fest paradise!

My kids loved saying "lets go get some pizza...I mean a hotdog...I mean tacos.." etc. all day!

Have fun- I'm jealous!

Scoops also has toppings!!! M&Ms, sprinkles, etc. Plus fresh fruit. YUM!!!

The only cost of the ice cream is the calories you take in, hey, wait a minute, you are on a cruise, calories don't count when you are on a cruise, isn't that correct??? LOL!!!

:earboy2:

but I would pay anyway. I'm the adult mom and it is a requirement for
me to visit Scoops daily. When we first get on the ship (our
6th coming up this summer in California), we eat our lunch buffet
and my DH always asks me if I'm not getting dessert, of course I am,
at SCOOPS! :cool1:

I am starting to drool here, LOL!

It's a lot "cheaper" if you use the stairs :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I agree that calories don't count on a cruise...but someone forgot to tell my waistline. So the potential cost is the new clothing needed when the old clothes won't fit upon your return.

Doesn't everyone stop off for a slice or two of pizza on the way from the adult pool to the drink station, and then walk back on the other side of the ship and grab some of the world's best chicken fingers with fries as "finger food" to help give the drink something to wash down? And then the hot tray snacks late afternoon near the adult pool....

And if your DS is up later into the evening, on the Magic Scoops reopens after dinner...my DS is eagerly awaiting his favorite, chocolate ice cream before bed, even late, on the Magic during spring break. :cool1:

Is there hard or soft ice cream or both??

When are Scoops hours generally, plus what are pluto's and pinocchio hours?

Before going to the shows, we stopped at scoops and asked them to fill a soda cup 1/3 full of ice cream. Then we went to the soda fountain and filled the cup. A float to enjoy while waiting for the show to begin, and no extra cost!

Good idea tiggrbaby!

I'm not sure what the hours were for Pinochio's and Pluto's- they were always open whenever we got the yearning to go there, though!

I have only sailed the Magic...Don't know if same hours on Wonder.

Scoops - 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. when we cruised, but I read here this board some time back that Scoops is now open much later.

Pluto's - 11:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M., but also read that it's now open late until midnight (can not personally confirm the late time)

Pinocchio's - 11:00 A.M. until midnight.

:hourglass :hourglass With all these threads on the quality and quantity of food, I am not sure I can make it til July. My DW & I have already told our DD's about Scoops and they can't wait either. :hourglass

Good thing it is free or my husband would have been broke! Between he and my son I always knew where to look.

I've only seen soft serve ice cream at scoops myself. You can get hard ice cream as dessert with your meals however.
