Does purchasing an annual pass mean we can never get a dining plan (or free dining)?

You can get free dining...but you'll have to buy tickets. There is no exception to the ticket purchase requirement for free dining.

and it's a minimum 3 night stay for free dining, plus at least 2 day tickets for everybody age 3 or over. It used to be 1 day tickets, in 2009 it was changed to 2 day tickets.

AP holders can get a ticketless package with room and dining so you can get the dining with no extra outlay for tickets, if you pay for the dining. This is not available for free dining.

The above posters are correct in that there has been no general public free dining offer so far that includes any dates in 2013. Just targeted offers like bouncebacks and PIN codes.

I have three lunch ADRs for our trip in May, but other than that we plan to eat breakfast in our rooms (yay, porridge!) and dinner at quick service. Would a Table in Wonderlands card be useful to us?

It's mostly accepted at table service - not counter service. There are only 10 counter service restaurants at WDW that accept it. Out of those, only 3 are in a park - and they are all at Animal Kingdom.

If, over your 3 trips over the membership period, you will spend more than $500 on eligible food and beverages, then a TIW card will result in a return on your purchase.

Back to the question about is only one person has to get the 2-day ticket for free dining. Every person in the room gets the ticket as part of the package so, OP and her spouse would have to pay for 2 2-day tickets.

Okay, seriously considering the TiW card now. Thanks!

I've just got some math to do...

So far as I can tell from reading over TiW... pros are the 20 percent off at table service, and it includes Animal Kingdom and the Pop food court and drinks. Cons, that automatic 18 percent gratuity tacked on at TS - my husband really likes to decide his own tips. And the AP gives us 10 percent off all our food purchases anyway.

Hmm...

Just to clarify - AP does NOT give 10% discount on every place. Some are only for lunch.

Check that before you decide about TIW.

Who are these non-public people that were offered free dining? j/k

I assume that what you meant is that 'bounce back' offers for 2013 free dining were made, but it hasn't been opened up as a regular offer.

Yep, that's exactly what I meant, plus anyone who got a pin code.

I actually would go further to say that the restaurants offering an AP discount are very limited and most offer the discount ONLY at lunch. Also the discount applies to food and non-alcoholic beverages only.

Thanks for the heads' up! That's helpful to know.

I think AP holders get a discount at all quick service locations, correct?

Edited to add... I was sure I saw that somewhere, but now I can't find it. :p

No, AP holders do not get a discount at every restaurant, CS or TS.

And of those who do offer it, there are some restrictions - different ones at different restaurants, for some the discount is not good on alcohol, entrees only, lunch only, weekdays only, etc. Read the dining discounts for the AP to see if they might apply to anything you want to do.
