POR has a bar-restaurant area that had a GREAT piano player-singer SUCH FUN!! Games, dancing, a lot of family entertainment...yes kids were allowed. We popped in for a bit one evening. I forget his name and the place (someone can help me on that) but it was PO-riverside
POFQ - Scat Cat's Jazz Club, if you want food go get it in the food court and bring it back
performer = Eliott
I think he's performing Wed thru Sunday nights (but I'm not certain)
VERY GOOD
He plays sets until rather late, early shows are more children friendly, later shows tend to have more older adults (y'know, empty nesters or never-parents)
POR - River Roost Lounge, I understand that they serve "snacks" and "bar food" in there
performer = Bob
I think his performance nights are the same as Elliott's (but I'm not sure)
Haven't really stayed around and listened to an entire set
More family friendly, louder and more bouncy
The guy at POFQ is Elliot Dyson. He has his own website, I think it's www.elliotdyson.com
He used to perform regularly at the Pleasure Island Jazz Company, so it's nice to be able to see him for free now, without having to pay a cover charge!

one night my mom and I were on our way to the store to get some water because the pop machine didnt have any, he asked what we were doing and when we told him, he gave us 2 bottles of water.
He is great to listen too, one of the many reasons I love POFQ

Thank you all so much, that is exactly what we were hoping for! Both resorts sound like great fun...makes it that much more special to stay there as I love live jazz!
Elliot is great!! We had our kids there, DD8, DD13 and a friend 13, with us and he played songs they requested and put their names in the Mambo Number 5 song. They thought he was wonderful, too.
Bob Jackson is a must see! He plays piano at POR Wed-Sun from 8:30pm-12mid. It's a very kid friendly show and highly entertaining. I am not staying at POR next trip, but I plan on making a special trip over to POR to see him. POR is especially enchanting at night with the lights twinkling over the river and the lamps illuminating the paths. My favorite moderate!
Thanks so much for posting that! He was there in 2001, and DS got to see him, loved him! DS is a jazz major, so he's followed Elliot Dyson for years. Glad to hear he's still over as a Blues Brother.
