Does picking up smaller cancellations help?

I'm hoping to get Ohana for dinner on 12/1 for 5 people. Does it do me any good to watch for cancellations for 2 or 3 people? Is there a chance they'll combine them for me? Or do I need to only watch for cancellations for 5?

Yes - I do that all the time - especially if you have someone else with an MDE account. If I need 6 and I find a reservation for 4 I take the reservation under my account and then keeping checking using my DHs account to get the additional 2. It works and we just about always get put together. Sometimes if we are a large party - like 12 - we had to split up but next to each other.
