Does Olivia's have the terrible new children's menu?

I'm trying to make some ADR's, but the new children's menu has me in a bind. DS won't eat any of the stuff on that menu....

First off, I don't know if Olivia's has switched to the horrid new kids menu. For everyone's sake I hope not.

I contacted WDW dining guest relations with my concerns about the awful choices in the new "healthy" menu, and was contacted by one of their representatives.

I was told that the restaurants are allowed to add to the new standard menu, and you can also request accomodations if you have a child who is picky and insists on food that is edible. (Calling my child picky would be a vast understatement. He is underweight, and lost weight because he wouldn't eat the nasty baked chicken strips or any of the other choices.)

If the menu is there, ask for options. If the server won't help, ask for a manager.

Well, I guess I'd better get prepared for our trip in Jan. My dd IS a picky eater!!!

BTW...your son is ADORABLE!!!!

Yes, Olivias has the same new kids menu that you find everywhere else with a menu these days.

I was there a week and a half ago (ack! 2 weeks ago!) with my 3 year old, who luckily consented to eat a good bit of the "Just Dip It" plate. Whew. They are agreeable about switching out the components for other components, but the problem comes in when none of the components appeals.

Unfortunately they do. In fact the entire menu was a disappointment. Alot of the old favorites were gone and they have a very basic menu now. This seems to be happening alot at Disney.

So sad to hear this. I have always enjoyed Olivias. Looks like a LOT of our favs are slowly being left off our must do list.

That's what I was afraid of. Looks like I'll be calling DVC to complain!

Please do. I'm all for healthy choices but ADD those to the menu don't eliminate the choices.

There are some disturbing trends I've noticed at DVC and WDW. Food has gotten worse with a dummying down of the menus (you read one you've read them all), cold pools and less than magical service. I have serious doubts about the future of WDW and DVC. :sad2:

We just returned from WDW and we had the opposite experience. Both of my children (10 yr old girl and 4 yr old boy) absolutely LOVED the food selections. Well actually, my 10 yr old had to order adult meals except for the one time we ate at Olivia's. We don't know what the old menu was but happy to see the healthy food choices. And yes, this menu was at all of the places we ate.

And what would you do if your child would eat none of the selections?

My daughter is a pretty picky eater so at any restaurant there might me a chance that she doesn't like something but for the most part there is always something that works. I show them the choices and they know to pick something and go with it, or the get nothing (til later). Or she eats off our plates and around the table or has bread and butter. I usually pack a coulpe things in my bag (snacks) that I know she likes and give that to her if after dinner she doesn't eat much. Neither one refuse to eat nothing and never complains. I just know that we will grab them something later. We don't fuss too much. That is why they liked the kids menu since they could mix and match. They often got pizza, yogurt with berries and apples. I guess I am lucky!

What were the choices prior that everyone wants back?

Mainly I want the chicken tenders back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They've stripped them off every menu, and it's DS's main food when we go out. At home, I can cajole him into a wider range of food. I do not care to do that on vacation, when I am trying to sit and enjoy my meal as well.

I agree

I diet all year round so I can have a blow out and really eat when I go on vacation. Your children can eat healthy also all year round. It doesn't seem fair to say to children you have to eat healthy all the time but I can eat what I like.

Luckily my DD is 13 so has the choice of having healthy adult meal or an unhealthy one.

We just got back from WDW and I took my friends as a treat but their children were not at all keen on the new menus. I had told them before we went that their kids would love the kids meals. They were espeically looking forward to the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as we do not get them here in the UK. The kids meals were a big disappointment.

So glad I am an adult!!! Once again loved Victoria and Alberts but disappointed with Raglan Road food.

I guess there will be some that love it and some that don't, so wouldn't it make sense that Disney goes in the middle somewhere and create a menu that contains a little of both? Hopefully they will because I see both sides.

My situation is just that my kids actually enjoy the healthy stuff because so often when we go out to dinner here it is chicken nuggets and fries. This was a change.

Really, their decision to strip the World of chicken tenders is clueless. Why do they think it's on EVERY kids menu. BECAUSE IT"S WHAT KIDS LIKE TO EAT!

My 2 DD's hated this new menu also, and we asked at Concourse Steakhouse if there was any other alternative, otherwise they were sharing with us...And they offered Chicken Fingers and a small steak to the kids, and we were able to use the dining plan for them...So ask...it cant hurt...

Unfortunately, all of my boys would have enjoyed the new menus but they are older now and for the most part, order off of the adult menus at WDW.

From my perspective, kids get tired of just mac and cheese and chicken fingers (or at least my 3 did). I'm fortunate...they all like numerous vegetables (my 11 yr old ALWAYS wants a salad or a salad bar if available) and my middle one (who is 15) is very good to try new things. My oldest (20 now) is currently serving in the US Marines so lord knows what he is eating these days.

I think Disney is on the ball...perhaps the fact that nearly 20% of all children in the US from ages 5-18 are obese could have something to do with it. I know at my youngest two's schools, they have deleted all soda and soda machines...some candies...and pizza is not on the menu everyday. Both of my boys noticed it and both appreciated it.

I guess we all have different opinions on this topic.

Esmerelda :)

To me it just seem a little strange to change all the children menus. I can't say my kids enjoyed the choices they had before. Mine seemed to like salads a lot and they always could order a side salad off the menu. It seems to me they could have still keep chicken tenders on the menu and left it up to the parent to decide if the kids could order it. Why not have both just not so much of it or only the fast food stuff. I wish Disney would do some research about this before they make such a drastic change

I got to thinking about the kid's menu last week and for some reason I thought that there was chicken nuggets and other choices but not certain. They pictured the three healthy meals but over to the right side there were menu items listed but we ignored them since mine wanted the pizza pictured. So, I just went to the 50's Prime Time Cafe Children's Menu on this website and it does appear that they have added additional items such as chicken noodle soup, chicken nuggets, and fries (by request).

So maybe they listened and are placing some of the favorites back on Makes everyone happy.

nice news if it's true...but many of the menus are old and have old info on them
