Does mousekeeping expect to be tipped?

We always tip housekeeping staff- whether it is WDW or elsewhere.

Interesting question. We always tip daily, as you don't always get the same mousekeeper during your stay. During our stay at the BC last Dec., we left tip envelopes each day, and only two of the 5 days was the envelope taken! We just left an extra tip on the last day, but somebody didn't get their tips, I'm afraid!

Makes me wonder how many people do tip the mousekeepers?

From what I have read mousekeeping is not considered a tipped position by disney....but of course I'm sure tipping is appreciated. I disagree with the above poster that most mousekeepers don't expect to be tipped. Our last trip to AKL concierge I forgot to tip 2 nites. The funny thing is our tipping had a direct effect on the towel animals and any special arrangements to DD stuffed animals. Which I found rather annoying and almost didn't tip b/c of it! I think they do do something special if you tip...if not you usually get the standard treatment.

Are you positive it was the same Mousekeeper each day....???

Positive as one can be....plus it was the topic in the lounge. Seems I'm not the only one that noticed it.

If you take care of someone they tend to take care of you. I think it's human nature.

Hi!

I usually tip $1 to $2 a night, depending on how many people are staying in the room ... and how messy we are.:)

Have fun!

I couldn't agree more but I have read many times that the mousekeepers can change daily.

I'm glad you mentioned how much you tip - I was about to ask this question! Do others tip the same?

I think the standard is 1.00 per person per nite if you are not really messy more if you are truly messy. Now what is messy? I think that if all that needs to be done is the bed made and the bath cleaned thats normal. If garbage is thrown about and thingsall over that she cant get in and out of your room in 15 minutes then that is messy. JMO

Is that $ 1 - 2 dollars per day for mousekeeping or $ 1 - 2 for the am cleaning and then again for the pm turn down. never knew or even thought of tipping for mousekeeping.

:o :o :o Do I tip the concierge staff as well?

It seems to me that a buck or two is an insult. Don't get me wrong I'm not made of money. In fact I never seem to have enough. It seems kind of like if you leave a small tip after a meal. Now remember I didn't even know that I was supose to leave a tip until only a few days ago after reading about tipping on the boards. (thank god :o ) Tell me if I'm thinking about this 1 -2 dollar per day thing all wrong.

I was wondering the same thing. This is our first time in concierge do we leave a tip at night and again in the morning or just in the morning? Thanks Michelle

I've had a reverse problem. Twice now going to WDW I've left a tip every single day, and every single day the tip envelope sits there.

I've moved it to where it will be seen. How much more obvious could it be when I put in in the sink, stuck on the mirror, on the bed, on the floor in front of the door?

I just couldn't give my money away. So, recap... 2 trips, 3 resorts, no mousekeeping would touch my money!:(

I never understood tipping the bell and not tipping housekeeping or tipping the housekeeping the same as the bell. The bell takes my luggage and holds it. Wow...that's alot of work. ;) The housekeeping cleans my room, makes my bed, brings me new towels, etc.

Unless housekeeping makes ALOT more money than the bell, I don't get it.
