Does it save any time to pre-order AP's?

Going down on Thurs. evening 3/29 and our first park day will be the MK early on Fri. morning. Want to purchase AP's and the TIW card. Does it save any time at Guest Services to pre-order the vouchers for the AP's? I mean, we still have to visit Guest Services first thing off the bat, right? There is no way around that, right? That is the only way to get the AP's & the TIW card, right? I don't even know how long they take to come in the mail so not sure if there's time to pre-order before we go. I have vague memories of the TIW card taking like 3 weeks the one time I pre-ordered that (but we'd need the AP vouchers first in order to get the AP discount). I don't remember how long the vouchers took for the AP's. But I mean, there's really no point to pre-ordering right now is there? (I realize that if there was a price increase on the immediate horizon the advantage would be that we'd get the old price structure.)

Just wondering.....Thx:rolleyes:

I don't think pre-ordering saves time. We have done it to have our APs paid off before we go but yes you still have to go to guest services to get the actual cards. You still have to show photo ID.

Agree with this, we bought 4 AP's last June before the price increase, got a will call #, realized we needed 1 more AP due to an added trip so we bought it on the spot all took the same amount of time to process.

No it doesn't save time. It just ensures you will pay the current price for an AP in case a price increase occurs between when you buy your AP and you go to the park. Just make sure you have your DVC member card at the guest relations to get the DVC member discount.

The last time we got PAPs, we also got the TIW card and did it all at DTD. It took a few minutes. If you buy online, you still have to do exactly the same as buying them right there. Only difference is that you have already paid for them.

To get our APs, we bought tickets from mousesavers, then used them, and at our leisure upgraded them to DVC APs. (saved $90 total vs just buying the DVC APs at that time since there had been a price increase in between, and the mousesavers tickets were discounted) Then we bought our TIW card.

While we did things leisurely, I can't see much difference in the time needed to do those things vs buy a DVC AP on the spot, and only a little more time taken than exchanging a voucher and buying the TIW card.

But at least with the tickets, you are inside the park while doing it, and if you don't NEED to do it until, say, lunchtime that first day (to use the TIW card) you can wait until 11 and get a few rides in beforehand.

I had been planning to order hoppers from Undercover Tourist then I read a couple of threads recently that sounded like we may or may not get by with upgrading them once we're there. Apparently not ALL CM's are up to speed on the process and sometimes the transaction gets messed up. :confused3 I am not in the mood for a hassle with a poorly trained CM at 8:00 in the morning. It would save us probably around $75 for 3 of us but I'm not sure if it's worth the anxiety.
