Does it matter who sells me the wine package?

We plan to purchase the wine package but are curious about who gets the added gratuity.....your server or the person who sells it to you? I remember being somewhat bombarded when we first boarded the ship with waiters trying to sell us the package, but we prefer that our own servers reap the benefit of the gratuity and so we plan to wait until dinner to make the purchase. Is this necessary or should we just buy it asap and get one more thing out of the way?

The gratuity will go to the person who sells it to you. Yes, you are bombarded on the first day with people trying to sell you the package and your server will also ask you at dinner if you wish to purchase the package. HTH

Thanks, Lisa, I'll be sure to wait and buy it from our servers so they can get a little extra.

If I remember correctly - you just 'reserve' the wine package until you actually start on your first bottle in the dining room. I thought our server got the tip but the person who 'reserved' it for us got some other incentive for the 'sale'

Word of warning though--make sure they get the right name and stateroom down on the receipt. We were traveling with a large party and my father-in-law ordered the package. Because our last names are the same his charge ended up on our bill. And it took DAYS for them to get it off. Even though we could prove we werern't drinking the wine package they insisted on figuring out what went wrong etc. before removing it from our bill. And they had already put the charge through on our card to our CC company. Needless to say, my husband was VERY angry. This was our only negative part of the trip though! But it amazed me how long it took for them to get it straightened out and that was even with going to them a couple of times a day and begging. It was almost $200 worth! It was our Assistant Server that had messed it up. He apologized-but that didn't help us. Didn't find that out until the last day. And Customer Service told us that if there are other people with the same last name as you that it was common for that to happen. So check your bills carefully!!!!

Deb: that's a good point...reminds me of something that happened last cruise: We have a very unusual last name but the last time we sailed we had to see guest relations about something. They asked if we were traveling with other family members because there was another party with the same very usual name! Never did find out who they were........ I think i'll just purchase the package the first night at dinner and hopefully avoid all confusion

does anyone know where I can find a list of the wines now available in the packages - I've seen an older list on the castaway cay website but wondered if the list was available anyplace else - that would be current
