Does it matter when you make your room request?

We are staying at SSR in August and I have not requested our section yet. So does it matter if I request now or a couple o weeks before we go??? I know it is just "a request" but are they added by date when you request it or do you just need to get it on the ressie before you arrive? Thanks

It used to be first come, first serve (supposedly) on requests based on the dates they were entered so it did matter when you made your request.

Anymore, with the "room ready" policy, it really shouldn't matter much when you get your requests in. Still, I'd do it sooner rather than later if you know what you want.

That is part of the problem...I don't know where to request yet. I am thinking for Aug...we might want to be close to the springs area......the main pool and the restaurant. So maybe that is what we should request. ?????

I'd go ahead and make the request that you state. You can always call and change it if you change your mind.

Personally, I always list non-smoking as my first request (medical reasons). Then I tend to make a general "area" request to give the room assigner a lot of choices to meet my request. Sounds like that's the approach you're taking, and as long as you know that they don't guarantee anything (you could end up far away from the Springs area despite your request) you should be fine. :)

I thought all rooms were non smoking? :scared1: Thanks, I'll have to add that. My DD gets sick from the smoke also.

Actually I did make that request FIRST.....no smoking. I too forgot about the Disney resorts not being non smoking. We have been staying at SOG a lot and their resort is non smoking.

For an August stay, I'd pick the Springs, too for its proximity to the main pool, restaurants, etc. At cooler times of the year, Congress Park for its DTD view, and some of the other areas are great, but the summer heat is brutal, and even short walks can be very unpleasant. :sad2:
And didn't you mention (in another thread) that this particular vacation was going to be a "minimal-park" one? If so, even more reason to be nearer to the pool and food.:thumbsup2
Have a great time.:goodvibes

I think I would ask for Springs or Grandstand. That way you have covered both the themed pools and the closest rooms to food.

Our last trip to SSR we arrived before lunch and the CM actually showed us what was available at that time and let us choose! :thumbsup2 I don't know if that's the norm so I wouldn't count on it but thought I'd share anyhow. Good luck! :goodvibes

Yes we are not focusing on the parks. I THINK The Springs is the better choice too. Thanks

Hi when we were there in Dec, we got exactly what we had requested. We checked in at 11am-our room was not ready-no problem off to DTD for lunch and relaxation!!
We always request Non smoking, and upper floor-kids and myself are light sleepers.

Good luck and have fun-
we'll be back in Sept-2 bedroom this time:cool1:

OH upper floor. That is another good request. Aren't all the two bedrooms upstairs though???

Nope, I've stayed in dedicated 2-bedrooms each of the last two years at SSR, both times we were on the ground floor (despite a request for upper floor).
