Does it HAVE to be an iPhone?!?

As neat as an iPhone is, I have absolutely no plans to get one (AT&T coverage is spotty here - we tested them for work). Plus the fact that if you don't keep the phone service, its a brick...not even iPod functions.

Any chance Project X will work with an iPod Touch as well? I'd consider getting one of those...

I can understand not going multiplatform though - especially for the crap that Verizon uses (no Java at all).

Project X???? Did Pete finally spill the beans? Haven't seen or heard it. Is it on the podcast???

Apple might be making an iPhone for them next year. If they do, I'd switch carriers in a heartbeat. I;m not too fond of AT&T either, but I LOVE my iPhone. :cheer2:

There is a rumor of them producing something for Verizon, but it won't be called an iPhone (probably a contractual thing with AT&T). So exactly what form it will take remains to be seen.

Verizon has great coverage, but they thus far have absolutely forbidden any phone that doesn't use the "BREW" VM, whereas most others have some form of Java. Thus they can completely control applications, etc. and charge you through the nose for them.

I hope Project X works with the Ipod Touch, as I have one already. Due to cell phone through work on Sprint network, Iphone is not in the cards. But I love all the feature on my touch, so I know I would love the Iphone.

Send pixie dust my way - my phone is throug work too but we are on AT&T. Right now I am on a Blackberry but we are looking to switching over to Iphones. Oh how I have coveted this phone.

I'm also hoping it will work on an iTouch! My Blackberry is through work, and we have Verizon service, so adding a 2nd phone and service for the iPhone would be double coverage and money I would rather be spending on another Podcast cruise! But I have an iTouch and would love to take advantage of whatever Project X turns out to be!

Here's hoping!

I'm not a phone expert but I have gone through alot of phones and I think you are incorrect about Verizon and the Java. I have a new BlackBerry Storm and I am pretty sure it runs on Java. I do think it is the only one though. I LOVE my Storm. It is by far the best phone I have ever owned. I would love an iPhone but ATT has ZERO service where I live. If they bring an iPhone to verizon I will but it in a heartbeat.

It could be that the Storm has Java...I haven't looked at one closely enough...but Verizon has been so stingy with regards to the things, I'd bet the Storm is somewhat crippled...

i love my iphone. but verizon service is much better then att. i miss the verizon service.

I have a touch also and hope project x will work with it. Around here (Albany, GA) ATT coverage STINKS!

:thumbsup2

I know it is not near as crippled as my past few phones. I can actually download my own muisc on the Storm (using BB software, not verizon) and I can acutally use the mp3 files as ringtones. I was AMAZED with that. There actually isn't too many verizon apps to download but you can download apps using the official BB app store. I'm not saying it maybe isn't crippled but it is a HUGE step up.:thumbsup2

Still want an iPhone though... mostly becaue of the apps though. So may more.

That IS a far cry beyond what they've allowed before. Blackberry probably negotiated a favorable position because Verizon wanted the Storm badly...perhaps they may loosen the chains on others :)

One of the big races now in terms of WDW fan technology is a realtime phone or WiFi enabled guide to the parks. Pete's will use the Iphone- necessary due to lack of WiFi in the parks. Itunes has some WiFi apps for Ipod Touch and Iphone like the park guides from pinpoint.com ($4.99 for all 4 parks and Blizzard beach). The pinpoint software links to websites to include menus from restaurants via a link to AllEars.net, But again, one needs to have a WiFi connection.
Pete better hurry, though. Len Testa at the Unofficial Guide indicates they are working on a realtime WDW guide application for Iphone, too.

Of course, it will be nice to have a choice based on features and price. And, if it has links to ads, then they might be free.

If (????) Pete is working on a Iphone App it wouldn't be a live WDW Guide, it would probably be a Where is Kevin app and allow us to track Kevin anywhere on WDW property :) Kevin loves us stalkers LOL
