Does it ever feel "cool" in August?

We are looking at mid-to end of August and I know it will be hot. I also know my mother hates the heat. We were thinking of October, but it really doesn't cool off that much from early October. My question...We are planning on doing evenings mostly. Getting started around 4, having dinner around 5, and then staying late. Does it remain hot and muggy at night? It's really the hot sun my mom can't stand, she can do muggy.

The only other choice is Spring Break and I'm afraid of the crowds.

We go in August every year... truthfully, it is quite hot during the day, but I would attribute this to walking in the beating sun. If you are only doing evenings, IMO, I don't think it's bad. It's still a bit hot, and muggy most times.. but you won't have the sun on you like during the day. I know that makes a difference for me sometimes. Have Fun !! :smooth:

Does she do wet? It's likely there will be afternoon thunderstorms, which tend to begin around 3 or 4pm. Sometimes they're quick and sometimes they last a few hours. Rather than cooling things off they often make it more humid.

October is far more pleasant if you can wait that long. The humidity will be lower, too.

There is a heck of a difference between WDW in August and October. I live basically in the same temperate zone(they are a little further south) and If I had a choice between October and August....Its October any day. You could actually have a cool front come through and lower the temps to the lower 80's upper 70's. Besides the F and W festival is in october. Fun fun fun.

Unfortunately, I don't think October will work. I had hoped to work for a school district that offered a two week break in October, but the job offer I got doesn't do that schedule. So, I guess it's August or Spring Break.

We have been last week of August, and in my opinion, it was still wickedly hot and stuffy, even after dark! We are probably going again in August in 06, but it is VERY VERY hot, even at night.

I went in August and had an awesome trip! That said it was very hot, but I perfer August to June. You can have a great trip when it's hot at WDW, because so many of the lines and rides are in doors and in airconditioning. there are a million threads about staying cool during the summer, check those out. I absolutely can't stand the heat, but I went prepaired and had an awesome time and you can too!

Let's see...um.....that would be a no!

Even the afternoon thunderstorms only tend to turn the park into a giant steam bath.

The good news is the crowds wind down later in August and you can get inside buildings with a/c faster! Plan to spend as much time inside as possible. Plan on a day at a water park or take off the afternoon and go swimming in your resort pool.

August in FL is ALWAYS HOT HOT HOT!!!! October heat is alot different than August heat.

Have fun planning!

Both are do-able...

April is perfect for the weather and we loved the F & G festival. Crowds were heavy. Rides were manageable with FP.

August is hot and muggy. We went the last week in August and it was 90s day/night. I love the heat :sunny: Bring lots of water and a mister fan even at night. We work our rides as 2 outdoor rides then 1 indoor and then we don't overheat. We head to the parks early in the morning and then go swim in the afternoon and then head back to the parks at night. Most rides are walk on - min. waiting. Our longest wait was probably 20min.

I'm a Floridian and trust me, August is generally hot, muggy. I am not one to mind heat, and in august and Sept in FL, I am making excuses to stay indoors. Even at night, "COOL" is a word that DOES not describe FL in August.

Hehe! I had to laugh when I saw "cool" and "August" in the same sentence. To echo what everyone else said, no it definitely is not cool - in any way, shape or form - in August. It is hot hot hot and muggy! Not to mention it doesn't even get dark until 8-9pm, and then it will drop to about 85 degrees with 90%+ humidity. I hate to rain on your parade (no pun intended :p), but as a Florida native I must say that August is miserable.

I agee with everyone else that you can't turn off the sun during the hot August days. The best way to beat the heat is to plan to go on as many indoor rides as possible. Magic Kingdom and Epcot are the perfect parks to try to beat the heat.

From many years of going to the park with family and my wife, the best time to go is in October instead of August. It is cooler, and I find the parks are not as busy(that's if you can go if you don't have kids-or you take them out of school during the semester).

Just make sure you bring lots of water, hit a pool(preferrably a Disney resort) in the middle of the day, and most importantly don't stay out of the heat for the kids' sake.

This is probably too much common sense you all already know.

How about thinking about a trip in February? I have been to WDW in February three times: the weather is cool and the lines are very short. My wife and I were able to go to all of MGM in half a day. Then hit MK later in the afternoon and nite.

Just an idea....but then again I am going in August, and look forward to losing 15 lbs from all the sweating.... :earsboy: :earseek:

Just have fun!!!
