Does it bother anyone else here when someone asks

If I were the OP asking that question I would anticipate that most people who reply would have eaten at one or the other and there may be a few who have eaten at both. I think you still get a reasonable comparison even if some people review one restaurant and others review both. If the idea is to choose between two restaurants I would think that a larger volume of reviews of both restaurants would be most helpful and if only people who have eaten at both respond, you are limiting responses. I guess what I'm saying is if I asked for reviews I'd be interested in all reviews.

As a poster this wouldn't bother me becuase I like when a lot of people reply to my posts. Even if they haven't been to both places it's still nice of them to contribute their opinions.

Wouldn't it be great if we could hand select everyone who replies to our posts! :rotfl:

To answer your question, I'm happy to have people respond to my posts and in your example any comments, advice, and suggestions are helpful. Not only are they helpful to the original poster, but they are helpful to others who are reading the thread.

Bother me? Why would something like that bother me?

There is always something that is going to "bother" someone else. Someone asking a question that has been asked a million times, the debate about refillable mugs, pool hopping, wheelchairs, threads that ask if things bother others... :rotfl2:

Seriously, this is a Disney message board. It is all fun! There are to many things in the "real world" that bother me. Things like this are nothing to get my panties in a twist. :rotfl:

Doesn't bother me at all. The information can still be useful if the poster has a strong opinion of the restaurant--either horrible or very good.

Doesn't bother me at all. That person who has not been to A but has been to B might describe B in a way that helps me make up my mind. Maybe they mention a particular dish that was extra-good..... and it's one of my favorite foods. Maybe they tell me that my favorite food was prepared in a way I don't like. Who knows. I'd much rather get info on both restaurants from different people than not at all and the info is helpful to me in making my choice even if they are not making a direct comparison. Who knows if their direct comparison would match mine, anyway? Details are better. :)

Nope. The more opinions the better. Why wouldn't someone's opinion matter just because they have not been to both places? I dont follow the logic there sorry.

I guess I'm in the majority this time. I appreciate all the advice. I may not have the same taste as someone who has done both A and B, while someone who has only experienced A may really sell me on it. I suspect most of us who read these postings like to research things before they do them. When doing research, the more info. the better. :flower:

I have to agree with the rest. I would appreciate any replies. Just because someone has eaten at both places, doesn't mean they know everything about them. One person may have tried the item Im thinking of trying, but has only eaten at the one place. So I appreciate hearing that it was done right there. Anytime some replies I would appeciate it. The more people who reply the better. It gives me a better overview than if just one person said, yes, i ate at both and i liked A better than B. But contributes nothing else. I like hearing all opinions and reviews.

Regardless of whether they have been to one of the restaurants or both, it's is still just the poster's opinion anyway. YOU will not know which place is better until YOU have been to both, right? :teeth:

I'm with pezpam -- it's the information within the post that determines whether it's helpful to me or not. Maybe the person loves restaurant B because the waiters are so friendly they sit down in your booth with you to go over the specials. That kind of thing drives me CRAZY so even if it's a plus to that person, it's an automatic negative to me. Information is great!

You never know who will provide that one bit of info that will tilt your choice one way or another.

I agree...all insight is valuable, all sources considered.

It doesn't bother me. Any info from someone that has been to a place is usefull and sometimes the odds of finding someone that has been to both places can be slim. What I tend to ignore are the posts about places from people that have never been there. I like the first hand experience reports but the others, and not just on dinning, I could do without.

When it bothers me is if someone says "should I eat at Citrico's or Artists Point?" and you get people responding "Well, we've never eaten at either, but go to Boma, we loved it!" :confused3

Yeah, OK, you loved it, but it's not even close to what the OP was asking. They were obviously looking for an upscale, full service meal, and you are suggesting a casual buffet. It makes no sense and is completely moot, and just clogs up the thread.

I don't answer questions about O'Hana because I haven't eaten there, other than to say it seems a bit noisy as you walk by and almost always has a line waiting to get in. If someone asks general questions about dining at the PR, I'll put in my two cents and say that the Kona is arguably the best moderate dining at WDW. Big difference.

Another completely USELESS reply is "I would like to know this too".

If that's the case, just watch the thread okay? :)

I know I'm guilty of this one, but in my defense, I use it in place of "bump", so more people will read and reply (NOT because I think anyone will care).

Gee, is this what the OP of this thread asked? :rotfl2:
