Does humming annoy you?

When people around me hum I can't stand it! Its like nails on a chalkboard to me! I can't think when someone is humming around me and won't stop!
Especially if they are humming the same tune OVER and OVER...

Do you hum? Do you realize you do it? Some people hum and don't realize they are doing it. Do you live or work with a hummer? Do they annoy you?

I do not generally hum, but it doesn't bother me when others do.

I hate it!!!!!! The people around here that do it are incredible nerds that don't have any social skills so I think like they do it instead of talking. (I work in a Chemistry building).

Even worse are whistlers.

I don't hum nor do I whistle. God didn't grant me the ability to whistle... so I think that's one of the reasons I'm bitter about people who do.

I used to have a co-worker who hummed. She reminded me of the kid in "About a Boy." She took choir classes here at the college and would hum afterwards. She has a beautiful singing voice so I finally just told her to please just sing instead of humming all the time! She didn't realize she'd been doing it but after that, she'd sing to me instead. I'm fine with that for some reason. She graduated and doesn't work here anymore and I miss her.

I catch myself humming from time to time -- sometimes at work, or on public transportation or at home. Sometimes I don't realize it. It doesn't bother me if someone else hums. Heck, I may just join them if I recognize the tune!

Personally I don't hum but I too don't like it when other people hums.

But I DO LOVE MY DAUGHTHER'S HUMMING. She does it all the time.

I am not a hummer, or whistler, but it doesn't really bother me.

maybe I am immune to it since my husband is a "drop everything and break into song"-er. He usually dances while he is doing it too.

My DD says that I hum all the time. I don't even realize that I am doing it. She can't stand it and tells me that I am an old lady. Now that I think back my grandmother hummed all the time. Is it an old age thing?
