Does holiday merchandise go on sale right after Christmas?

We will be there Dec. 26-Jan. 5. I would like to pick up some ornaments or other Christmas merchandise, but does it go on sale? I know you can buy some holiday stuff year round so that stuff may not ever go on sale. Anyone come across some bargains after the holidays?

pretty sure only the DATED stuff gets any sort of noticeable discount. and maybe not even much of one.

We have gone in early January the last two years to accomodate my daughter's college schedule. I don't recall seeing much of any holiday merchandise on sale. Some food items maybe. And some dated items. But that is it.

We were there two weeks BEFORE christmas one year, and all the orniments and mugs and t-shirts were on sale 40% off.

I go MLK weekend every once in awhile and NOTHING in the MK Christmas shop is EVER on sale.

I do have a friend who goes for the field hockey showcase every February and has gotten discounted Xmas cards at the Xmas shop in DTD, but is that even open anymore??

Normally, the dated merchandise goes on sale toward the end of December. It does not stay in the stores long. After about a week, any dated merchandise left is sent to the outlet store.

Regular non-dated Christmas ornaments never go on sale. They simply move them out of stores like World of Disney, Mousegear, etc. Other holiday merchandise usually disappears toward the end of December and goes to the outlet store.

Where is the outlet store? We are staying offsite at the Marriott Cypress Harbor and will have a car. Maybe we can stop by the outlet if it isn't too far...

The outlet store is located on Vineland Road off CR-535 about a half mile from the entrance to WDW property. Don't expect large discounts on the merchandise. Even though they move it to the outlet store, that does not guarantee big discounts.

Just to let you know the dated merchandise ( like the merchandise for this year 2011) will be really picked over and little to nothing left by December.By December the 2012 stuff is already up.We had a heck of a time finding ANY 2010 when we were there in Dec ,all the stuff was already dated for 2011.Apparently the current year holiday stuff starts going on clearance October

Yep. I buy my dated stuff now ahead of time online just to be sure I get it. We took our first December trip in 08 and all I could find was 09 stuff, which I thought was nutty. Who wants 09 stuff in mid-December 08? They clearly don't want to be stuck with it after the fact.

I have no problem dating my holiday ornaments with a sharpie! And I am guessing we'll be able to custom-order 2011 ornaments via photopass anyhow (in March 2010, we could have gotten ornaments that said 2009 or 2010).

Anyone heard anything else about the Mickey ear hat ornaments that they mentioned on the Disney blog a while ago? I am hoping those aren't sold out by the time we get there!

Some of it is 40% off during December. In 2007, we got 40% off A LOT of merchandise around the 5th. In 2009, we were there from the 2nd - 11th and we were able to get merchandise 40% off on 3 different occasions during that trip.

December 08 we got 40% off all Christmas decorations. December 2010....... nada.

We were there the week before Christmas in 2008. Most Christmas ornaments were 50% off. I had not planned to buy any, but did since the discount was so good.

Two years ago, in Early December, we had a REALLY chilly day and I didn't have anything warm enough.
I found a gray, hooded, zippered sweatshirt/jacket at The Screen Door on The Boardwalk. It was perfect! It had Christmas motif with the year on it.

It was VERY expensive !!!!!

I took it to the register, sort of grumbling about the price.

I was delighted to find out that it was 40% off !!!

I felt like I got some pixie dust.

During mvcp last year I got cold even though it was early November, I bought a 2011 sweat shirt marked down to like $15.00
