Does four extra months age make a difference when doing WDW with a two year old?

My daughter is exactly 2.5 and I've seen huge changes in her in the last four months.

We are planning her third trip to Disneyland for tight before she turns three. She is already so excited. When she sees pics or commercials. I think it will be our funnest trip. I'd wait for closer to 2.5 if it were up to me :)

While I think that developmentally you may have more fun and an easier time waiting til 2.5, I say go at the earliest time.

Why? So you can get a bounceback and squeeze in another trip before paying the 3yearold ticket. ;)

Because you are going to love Disney even more than you ever have before after going with your toddler. ;)

Verbal skills change so much at that age. Also, table manners, if you are planning on a lot of eating out.

I agree the difference in verbal skills is huge every month in the 2s. My daughter is 2 years 2 months right now and the last two months have been huge verbally. We are going to Disneyland when she is 2 years and 51 weeks! I'm excited! We took my son at 2 years 3 months (she was 10 months). It was fun, but I remember thinking it would have been better even just a few months later.

FWIW, we used the Lori Jensen 3 day method for potty training at 2 years 3 months with my son. Since the end of the first week, (Christmas time 2012), he's had maybe 5 accidents and he's never, ever wet the bed. So... Don't rule it out! I was geared up for potty training at 3 and he seemed ready so we jumped on it. I'm using g the same method over Memorial Day with my daughter!

I think the key to having a "successful" vacation, to Disney or anywhere for that matter, is setting proper expectations for yourself and the others with whom you're traveling. So if you go and he's in the middle of potty training, embrace that, and adjust your plans accordingly.

And that's now twice I've seen posts from Aliceacc that I've really enjoyed/agreed with. So sage. Thank you for contributing.

Just depends on the child! My current 2 year old, HUGE difference between him at just turned two and now at 2.5. He was barely saying any single words at 2 and is now speaking in 4-5 word sentences. He was very much still 'baby-like' at just turned 2 and is now much more of a toddler. Naps are usually still necessary but it's not the end of the world if we skip one. He's more independent, less clingy.

As far as potty training, also very dependent on the child. 3 of my 4 were potty trained by 2.5. My 4th is a little more stubborn but he won't be too much later. I would recommend potty training whenever he is ready, whenever that may be, I truly believe the older they are the harder it gets, personal experience and watching other families. My 3rd child, a boy, was by far the easiest to potty train. He truly potty trained himself, I actually didn't want to potty train him because when he decided he wanted to I was scheduled for surgery 2 weeks later and my mom, who was taking care of my kids while I recovered, said she would rather deal with diapers than a newly potty trained kiddo and accidents. He was completely potty trained, no accidents before my surgery and I really didn't do or encourage it at all. LOL
