Does Express Pass Price Change As You Get Closer to Dates?

I was looking at Express Pass prices for week before Christmas a few days ago, and I looked again today. I'm 99% sure the prices changed just in a few days where Dec 22 went from orange to green and Dec 23 and 24 went from green to orange.

Is this typical that they will dynamically raise the prices as you get closer to the dates and they get closer to selling the limited number? Essentially exactly what the airlines do with airline tickets.

We are going to Universal IOA on Saturday the 18th and are debating whether the Express Pass is worth it. We were going to play it by ear and see how the lines are but now I'm worried about the prices going up and/or getting sold out if we wait until THE day.

Express Plus passes are priced based on the expected crowd level for that particular day. Basically...the higher the cost, the more people are expected to be in the parks. On rare instances I've seen the prices change online but that's not the norm. That week you should be OK without purchasing the EPs so you might want to wait until you arrive to see the EPs are needed.
