Taking DS7 and DNephew 7 9/30-10/5. Plan to attend MNSSHP for the first time on 10/2. Saw the thread of pics, loved them all, but it hadn't occured to me before that we would need costumes. Does everyone wear a costume? Will we be out of place without one? Any suggestions for something simple for 2 7 yo boys with a very uncreative mother/aunt? :confused3

There are many people without costumes, you won't feel out of place. Many children had costumes, so you may want to get something for them, but many didn't. I think a costume would get in the way!

my dh and I wore halloween t-shirts we bought on line - simple and fun!

I was surprised just how many people did dress up-we don't really go in for Halloween over here- but some of the costumes in Florida heat were verging on child cruelty. Its still really humid even in the evening and I saw loads of little girls in full princess dress or even worse-one poor kid in a full pooh bear outfit! I do like the idea of halloween t-shirts though.

we went a couple of years ago and didn't wear costumes. When we were there, more people didn't have costumes than did. It was really hot the night we were there, and I think a costume would have really been super hot.

You will be comfortable either way....if you do decide to do a costume, make it a cool one cause it is hot!!! We did something simple...DH wore khaki shorts and shirt and I ironed on some clip art and he was Steve Irwin (Crocodile Hunter) and I had hot pink shorts and t-shirt and I attached a big white felt circle and some pink/red hearts and made a set of ears and was a Care Bear. We had a ball doing the trick or treat and people asked to take my picture because I had something original. Make sure the kids are comfortable--its a long nite!!!! have fun!!!!

We went last year, and I would say 90% of the kids we saw were in costume, if not more. So, I would make sure the kids were in costumes of some sort. Less than half of the adults were in costume, though. My wife and I wore t-shirts with a jack-o-lantern face and a skeleton. That seemed like a pretty good compromise for us.

Over the last 4 years we have gone, Alot of people do dress up, Part of the fun, having a Mr. Smee (just some guy dressed up)come over to my hubby and act like he is the real captain hook. Or compleate strangers, Cm's bowing to me (dressed as Cinderella)
Alot of really cool interaction with the real characters if your from their movie. (my sister, bil, daughter dressed up like dalamations) Cruella DeVil, etc.

But would I feel out of place with no costume? No.. Just not as fun..
